First, I was really surprised that there are so many replies to this thread in a short time and not one have posted the original trailer to the original Turtles movie.
    Well here it is!!
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100758/

Then if the turtles are not named Leonardo, Michaelangelo, Donatello and Raphael and they don't eat pizza, ride skateboards and say Cowabunga! Excellent!! Awesome!! and Radical!! then I got two words for you.
    Epic fail!!

Jonathan Liebesman, says Bay's comments were taken out of context. Though I do have to wonder what he meant.

Geez, I'm gone for a couple of weeks and now Mr Bay's doing Ninja Turtles?
This is kind of funny though. I never watched Transformers when I was a kid, and went into the movie with a completely open mind, and loved it. Later on, I caught on all of the fanboy rage, and saw what they cherished, I was like, thank you Bay for changing some shit. Megatron turning into a gun was stupid. Optimus Prime decapitating Decepticons, totally fucking awesome.

Now, I am a huge Ninja Turtle fan, but, I am not one of them retarded fanboys that can't have an open mind either. Right now, I am highly anticipating this. I'm more pumped for this than the Nick toon, which is something I am not thrilled with.

So glad I'm not the only one who really disliked The Watchmen.

I will make my mind up about the whole "alien" approach when I see the movie, because right now nobody knows dick about how it's going to be.

I agree, these guys look more like Psycho Ninja Turtles.. not my cup of thee.
Unless they get this way in the movie some way and Splinter and April need to get the antidote to fix them up.

I think this is why Bay is chosing to go with the Alien origin of the Turtles:

"T.C.R.I, Techno Cosmic Research Institute, is a scientific corporation/organization with a large, mysterious and imposing facility in Brooklyn, New York. Though little is known of the ongoings inside the building, their organization's acronym was printed upon the canister of mutagen which transformed the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Splinter. The facility is, in actuality, the secret terrestrial base of a race of aliens called Utroms who had crashed on the planet Earth sometime in the 1960s."

That being said, i don't think Bay should make them "Alien". They're clearly Turtles from the planet earth that mutated into 6 foot humanoid beings because of the ET ooze. Kinda like the opposite of what happened to Wikus Van Demerwe in the District 9 movie - he started turning into a giant alien prawn things after being exposed to the contents of the alien canister.
The only way to predict the future is to invent it.

Well, I welcome this IF that's what they are doing and it SEEMS like those are Liebesman's implications from the interview but I hope they dont make too much work for themselves in the long run though.

    please stop with this nonsense.

I will not watch it, and I will tell my friends and family not to watch such rape of the ninja turtles with this crap.

I like michael bay and his previous movies, but this, this is too much.

maybe this change was made to promote the movie with negative publicity, who knows but this is the most boneheaded idea I have heard of this franchise ever.

might as well call it the next aliens installment, now with ninja aliens
Just asking out of interest...But will your family, and friends be ok with you throwing around the term rape to describe a re-imagining of a franchise?

    Dear Mr. Bay,

I am very excited to see how you will improve upon the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. I have always believed that TMNT needed more high speed car chases and explosions. Hopefully you will consider remaking other classic franchises like Beavis & Butthead, DuckTales and My Little Pony. Just imagine what you could do with My Little Pony. The following is an example of your style used for the My Little Pony universe.

We see an aerial shot of the Grand Canyon at night. The camera zooms in on a rattlesnake as it slowly makes its way across the ground in the evening. It is a quiet moment shattered by the loud roar of an engine as a motorcycle races by. The rider throws her helmet aside and we see that it is Twilight Sparkle, one of the characters from My Little Pony. She is being chased by a TurboTank and it is gaining on her. Cut to the inside of the tank where we see the gunner getting a lock on Twilight Sparkle.

Twilight Sparkle drifts around a corner and throws a grenade at the TurboTank. It is a slow motion shot as the grenade flies and turns through the air against the backdrop of the setting sun only to fly directly into the cannon of the TuurboTank. It explodes!
The TurbTank races out of the explosion. It's main cannon is destroyed but the crew prepares to fire its axillary missile launchers. The driver taps a control panel and the display says that mines are being detonated all over the canyon. The explosions force Twilight Sparkle to change direction. She is now caught between the massive Grand Canyon and the TurboTank. Vowing to never be caught alive, she races towards the canyon. Using a flat boulder as a ramp, Twilight Sparkle causes the motorcycle to jump into the air in a graceful arc. Unfortunately, she will never clear the Grand Canyon.

But maybe she won't have to! A hovership flies into the scene and trains its cannons on the TurboTank. A few shots and the vehicle erupts in a devastating explosion. Cut to Twilight Sparkle and the look of horror on her face as she falls down towards the bottom of the canyon. Cut to a hand clamping down on her leg, saving Twilight Sparkle! One of the six-year old kids who had befriended the ponies had rigged a line to a safety harness and jumped out to save Twilight Sparkle at the last moment.

As you can see, Mr. Bay, My Little Pony can greatly use your talents. I hope you will consider remaking this franchise in your image.

Ooooooo! That would be awesome! I would definitely pay to see that!!

You just posted a scene from a hypothetical Michael Bay directed MLP film and not a single mention of Rainbow Dash?

    Fuck yeah.

    From Kevin Eastman's facebook:

Hey Guys, Thanks for all the notes, and I do look forward to sharing more with you on the upcoming film as the work pace picks up--but I have a funny idea I love you all to try for me--I was over at the official Ninja Turtle website eight months ago doing some research on what kinds of stories have been explored in the 300 (plus) cartoon shows we did and most of you grew up on--why don't you cruise around the show synopsis' and let me know if you see anything there you'd like included in the film. Looking forward to your thoughts! K

You got it Beefy. There's a very big possibility for Michael to do that. He listens to the fans.

P.S. I love what Gary Oldman thinks about sarcasm in Lost in Space.
