Default A Plea to Oscar Voters: Please, Please Surprise Us! (form THR)

I'm joining with THR on this. The Oscars have become very predictable. Please surprise us this time.
And while the article is mainly for the best movie and actor category, I want to add: Please surprise us with an Oscar for a movie which VFX are not organic creatures. Or at least watch DOTM before you vote. :borat

    Let's show DOTM some support!

    Like i said before..

Michael has everything already in the pocket guys.. Transformers is very well known now worldwide and one of the most deserving movies ever.. the Oscars are for movies that need to be recognized by the rest of the world, it's international advertisement for the general global movie taste of films.
Also the Oscars is the only moment (for the generation of my parents) in the year for people who want normal movies to win something and to be recognized by many all over the world, for the rest of the year we youngsters may be the boss of weird, stupid, dumb horror and sci-fi movies.. *said in the tone of someone from the Oscars*

I accept that Transformers is not what they are looking for to give an Oscar.. The Oscars is a glamorous and Chic event where Sci-fi, horror, humor movies etc. don't belong in, movies are viewed more in an artistic and intellectual point of view in search of depth in movies.

Think about it.. "There Will Be Blood" was not a good movie.. but it fitted the Oscars suit perfectly, thats why it won.

That, and the making-of so they can see how complicated and impressive the effects and the sounds are. I don't think the Academy do their research considering ROTF was never nominated for a Visual Effects Oscar (Devastator being the most complex CG character ever)

Not ever. The Driller is 7 times more complex than Devastator (even without considering the 3D).

    Well, there you go

But still, District 9 was nominated, yes it's a good movie, but those were just copy-and-paste aliens.

The Academy seem to have a hard on for Weta.

District 9 is one of the better VFX movies. Everything looked so realistic. Even at some point I thought the aliens were puppets but then I found out that everything is CG. Many people confuse that it's nothing specail because it's not shiny and polished as most of the CG movies.

For a movie that only had a budget of $30,000,000, those VFX were freakin' fantastic.

So the VES award (vfx) went to Rise of the Planet of the Apes and the CES award (audio) went to Hugo. The Academy had to surprise us big.

    WOW!

According to a new report, 94% of Oscar voters are Caucasian and 77% are male. They have a median age of 62, with just 14% of voters under 50.
Can we expect a 70 year old Caucasian man to vote for DOTM? No. : rol

Look at my previous post.. I told you so! All old people choosing the movies once a year.. Let them have it..

People around their 50's might still enjoy TF.. But i'm guessing it'll be 50/50.. 60 yr olds are overboard, cant be saved..
When guys get older they get more sentimental so they love drama movies like those typical Oscar winning movies we always get from them.. they want movies to be comparable to them and their lives.. Thats why TF will not win..

TinTin was the best animated movie of last year and wasn't even nominated for best animated movie as the academy doesn't consider Mocap as animation

Technically, motion capture isn't really animation...just CGI. Besides, if it did count, Apes would snatch that award as well.

I still like the Oscars as a award show and to look how gorgeous and sexy some celebrities might look on the red carpet but i really dont care anymore if TF's is gonna win or not, Michael probably thinks the same way and he follows his great grandfathers advice so he's already happy with the results.

    Oscars are tomarrow right?

    I'm fine with it.
TF3 was not Oscar material but TF4 and 5 MIGHT BE.. who knows this is why Michael Bay wants an all new cast for the next TF movie maybe?
Would be bold to try this of course and why not?
