Default How long has anyone been a fan of Batman?

For me since i was 8 when i saw 89's movie in theaters 5 times, loved it and left an impression on me. I even collected nearly all the merchandise, ate the cereal, had the VHS with NES game for christmas that year, read the comics and watched reruns of the cool 60's show, i became an instant Batman fan.

I even saw Batman Returns 4 times in theaters when i was 11, had merchandise, ate the cereal, read Year One with Killing Joke (My first mature readers title i read), had SNES game for christmas with the vHS film and watched the animated show religiously every prime time on Fox and loved it.

I'm so glad Arkham Asylum/City games with the new Batman toons and Nolan's movies are making Batman cool again.

For me it's on and off again and again.

When i was a kid we had this video tape of Batman and Robin..

I loved it right away as a kid, then i saw Batman, Batman Returns those were really awesome movies but then came Batman Forever.. it was ok, Jim and Tommy did a great job at it but the starting scenes were a bit gay for my taste i was looking at my mom and saying like "what the f*ck was that? why did they do that?" and i thought it totally freakin SUCKED that the original Batman was replaced! But i did get the sticker-book cause the movie turned out to be alright

..i loved Michael Keaton for that role it was awesome he's still my fav Batman and then close second Christian Bale of course he's awesome too and i was already a fan of him before Batman Begins and that was a great movie and loved it right away too and then Dark Knight which was crazy for a Batman movie, i loved Dark Knight not for the nice atmosphere cause it didn't have that but because it was just a crazy movie and very well done.

Christopher says this one will be even better then Dark Knight so i cant wait to see the movie, i'm keeping away from trailers or any other spoilers.

What about The Animated Series? that was awesome and surprisingly adult for a near prime time animated show as the show was originally not intended for kids but mainly for older kids, teens and adults but it won the appeal of all ages when it hit Fox back in August of 92.

What do you think of Kevin Conroy as Batman?

Oh yeah for sure cartoon in the 90's was awesome but i would always catch the end of it because i would come home from school so the timing freakin sucked but once or twice saw a full episode and found this awesome giant Batman figure made of soft Plastic and eyes lid up it looked so cool thats the toy that got away from me i felt so bad that i didnt buy it for a verrry long time.. like 5 or 6 years after that.

Started watching the old school tv show with Adam west as i got older i started buying a few comic annuals, then the cartoons and more recently loving the Christopher Nolan reboot - the only movie reboot that deserves any type of applaud or mention.

I think it all started with my Dad's Batman comics from the 70's. Later the Adam West TV series, as silly as it was. But I've been a fan of comics and comic book movies for years now, Looking forward to seeing the Dark Knight Rises and all the other Superhero movies comeing out this year.

You must have been real disappointed when you found out the old TV show was a reboot, since the original Batman was Lewis Wilson and the TV show had nothing to do with it.

So, you don't hate reboots then? Or just the ones you were alive to see? Because Tim Burton's Batman was a reboot too, and it was pretty good, so...yeeeeaaaah...

You must have the IQ of a worm? I love Batman, Chris Nolan simply took things to the next level regardless of it being a reboot. It's one of the very rare moments when the right producer/director comes along and get's it right.

And so did the makers of the 60s show. And Tim Burton.

What are your thoughts on Batman: Year One by the way? You know, by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli? I only ask because that was a reboot too, and it's heralded as one of the best Batman stories ever put to paper.

Also, Batman: The Animated Series was a reboot, since it had nothing to do with any version of Super Friends, or The New Adventures of Batman. Speaking of Super Friends, how upset were you that they rebooted it for Justice League and Justice League: Unlimited?

Of course, you might argue that they're not reboots, technically, since they're just new adaptations of the same source material, but isn't that basically what a reboot is to begin with, and what separates it from being an actual remake?

ummm what exactly is your point? That the entire TV and movie series was a reboot of a reboot of a reboot? Would you like an award or some type of recognition?

I wish I could say your question dodging skills were impressive. I wish, that is. Don't see what the big deal is. I'm just trying to point out some inconsistencies that kind of annoy me. You seem to hate reboots, except...for all those reboots you have no problem with. And these are just Batman related reboots! :lmao

I gotta wonder what you think about that Superman reboot.

You've never seen the Superman reboot? Most people I know have seen it. It's like, the first comic book movie that really mattered. How have you not seen it?

    Why God, why?

Umm no. Apart from the odd segment of Smallville or Superman movie's i see while switching channels, I don't like Superman. Remember that time he died and it was all over the news - the end of the Superman comics, cartoons etc and everyone that followed him got caught up in the mass hysteria and paid good money for the merchandise.... then suddenly he came back to life, I bet all you suckers fell for that one. Batman is the thinking mans superhero.

Genius billionaire who gets all the supermodel lovin' he wants gets to wear black and stay up all night beating up criminals and never get away with it with the coolest toys ever, and he's automatically capable of kicking everyone's ass even though he has no powers, and he's always right about everything and he knows everything and he's always prepared for everything.

Sounds to me like he's just a male fantasy. Of course, I do like Batman, but still, Batman's no less glorified or goofy that Superman. It's just because he's "dark" and "gritty" people seem to like him more. He's no less silly, and no more intelligent, than Superman, if you look at both of their histories from a broad perspective.

And uh, didn't Batman just die? Except, he didn't die, because Darkseid sent him back in time or something silly like that? Yeah. Real "thinking man" superhero. Of course, you can look over Batman's silly stories and death/returns because he's Batman, and Batman is automatically the best thing ever because he's Batman.

But, to each his own. I'm just surprised you've never seen the Superman reboot. The one with Christopher Reeve, I mean. You know, since it rebooted the continuity from the George Reeves show. Which, really, was also a reboot, since it was unrelated to the Kirk Alyn serials.

How about the Fantastic Four reboot?

I once watched about 10 mins of the old Christopher Reeve's movie and changed it to one of the Bond movies, and no... How many time's do i need to tell you the only reboot of a reboot, reboot, reboot, reboot, reboot, reboot I've ever enjoyed is Batman.

    Thank you, come again.

So you didn't like the 60s show? I thought you said you did. And by "Batman" are you referring to the Burton film, which was also a reboot? You mentioned the Nolan reboot as well, but I can't be sure.

    How about Captain America?

Burton's vision is still my favorite version of Batman. I feel like he nailed the look and feel of Gotham City. Now I am probably going to get crucified for this but I dont like nolan's batman films at all. Beyond catching lightning in a bottle with Ledger, his movies are so bland. Not to mention he is weak when filming action scenes, way too close up and too many quick cuts. And the fact it doesnt feel like gotham city at all. It feels like CSI: Chicago, guest starring Batman. The movies have bored me.

Batman has been my favorite hero for as long as i can remember. I was drawn in by the Burton film but i love the Nolan films better and the cartoons were all good especially Brave & the Bold I'm not looking forward to the new series though seems like a big fail already /:

Yes Captain America got 3 really bad movies in the late 70s and early 90s, the new Captain America improved on them and remained true to the comics plus we have Hugo Weaving as RedSkull.

Who thinks Ann Hathaway will live up to Michelle Pfefier, Julie Newmar, Lee Meriwether and Andriene Barbeau (the voice of Catwoman on TAS) when it comes to Catwoman?

My fave graphic novels of Batman is Year One (despite i disliked the bald hooker version of my biggest comic crush ever Catwoman), Killing Joke, Dark Knight Returns, Batman, Knightfall and Mad Love and other Batman Gotham Adventure stories.

Haha the first film I ever seen in the movie theatre was Batman Returns. I was born in 1987, so I was too young to see Batman at the show. I remember seeing that one on VHS...lol....Ive been hooked on Batman ever since...
