P&G Script Being Rewritten

In an interview with Collider Mark Wahlberg shared some interesting stuff about the movie including that the script is being rewritten:

Regarding Pain and Gain, the true-story dark comedy is set to be director Michael Bay’s next feature. The notoriously big-budget-minded director is going small-scale with this passion project, which centers on two bodybuilders who get caught up in an extortion ring and kidnapping scheme that goes terribly wrong. Wahlberg was rumored to be circling the project alongside Dwayne Johnson, but shortly following the announcement a trade report claimed that Wahlberg had passed on the role. Wahlberg was surprised to learn that he’d turned the role down, setting the record straight by saying he’s done no such thing:

“No, I didn’t drop out of it either, they’re waiting on a rewrite for the script…I just spoke to Ari [Emanuel] who represents me as well as Michael and we’re waiting on a script.”

The actor went on to give some high praise for the project, which is certainly outside Bay’s normal wheelhouse:

“We talked about Dwayne and he’s got some great ideas for the cast. I think it’s gonna be something that people are gonna be very surprised that Michael’s gonna do, but I think he’s gonna do a great job with it.”

Steve then mentioned how crazy the story is and Wahlberg replied:

“It’s insane! They better tell me quick so I can get out there and start bulking up. I’ve got the gym, I’m ready to go.”

The original script for Pain and Gain was written by Captain America screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, but it’s unknown if they’re the ones currently reworking the script. The source material for Pain and Gain is some fascinating/insane stuff, and it’s not hard to see Wahlberg crushing the role. Hopefully we’ll hear more soon, as Bay has previously stated that he hopes to start filming this spring.

Clearly, he's excited about that project...which is good. Very good. I only hope they're not rewriting the entire script. It'll take too long and the spring shoot will probably be delayed.

IMO all script rewrites are a good thing. It means that you care for the story and want to make it the best possible. But as Bayhem said indeed let's hope they won't rewrite the whole thing.

Well as the "big book" sais about screenplay writing is "Writing is re-writing". But any kind of news about P&G just make me esxcited and happy in general

IMO all script rewrites are a good thing. It means that you care for the story and want to make it the best possible.

Sometimes it just means they have to re-write it for many many reasons that have nothing at all to do with the story. Like for example the script written is to big for the budget. Cant increase the budget, rewrite the script.

Looks like Scott Rosenberg (Con Air, Gone in 60 Seconds) will help with the screenplay of P&G. He is also writing The Hauntrepreneur produced by Michael.

Who cares.. the main storyline will be in it.. Mr. Pete was there with Michael Bay when he shot the movie so it'll be fine i think.

Btw.. this guy has beheaded people... f*ckin horrible sick stuff man jeez.. i accidentally came across one of those sick disturbing websites with horror and gore sh*t images and videos you know.. just terrible stuff.. but i was curious so i was dumb enough to go further i thought i could handle it cause i've seen other horrible stuff when i was a kid you know.. so i was searching for something related to Samurai stuff and came across that site.. s*ck f*ckin stuff dudes.. never look further on those sites even if you think you can handle that stuff those images will stay in your head! I saw two mexicans being beheaded (and other stuff) and my heart started to beat really hard after that so i immediately stopped.. worst sh*t ever to see..! disgraceful and humiliating death for any human.. X-I
