Personally i think Noomi is quite talented as it was proven in the Swedish Dragon Tattoo trilogy and i think this will make a great US debut for her.

Actually her US debut was Sherlock Holmes : A Game of Shadows.

We still have just over a month to go. That is still too long.

BTW,I refuse to watch that as I don't want to see any more than I did in the 1st official trailer. Besides, some at another site (/Film) said they saw some serious spoilers in that one.

I think people are getting too carried away with these "spoilers", if that's really how you feel then why don't they change the title from "movie trailer" to "movie spoiler". If you were to combine all the footage they've released we might have 5-7 mins in total, that's a tiny percentage of the total running time and they won't release any footage until it's been checked by the movie directors, producers, publicity and media teams.

I highly doubt they will show anything that will ruin the movie, even if they give a way a few "spoilers" it only means we're in for a huge surprise and one hell of a ride!

This broke earlier, but was unconfirmed.

    Now confirmed by Fox.

    For those wondering, R rated.

    Mother of God...

Now they're making up this conspiracy that the R rating is merely a "soft R." C'mon, an R rating is an R rating. This leads me to conclude that people are seriously not happy unless they have something to complain about, even if it means completely making shit up.

From what I've seen in the trailer, this doesn't appear to be a "soft R" film. Of course, trailers can be deceptive, but I don't think that's the case here. I think we're in for some pretty gruesome stuff.

Looks like the UK managed to squeeze a PG 15 rating with no additional cuts. :borat

Not going to read his review, he always drops massive spoilers.

Great looking film. Okay movie. Not as okay an Alien (shared dna or not) movie as I had hoped.

Creepy as f**k. 3-D and visuals were fantastic. Score was awesome.

My big issue I have with it though is that I was expecting something...unexpected. Was looking for some real scary holy sh*t WTF moments. Damn you, trailers.

Ending was a nice little treat for Alien fans...

Even the rabbit out of the hat won't be a surprise if you've seen the webisodes. I can't believe they went so far as to even show the mid-air collision in the last two trailers. It would be like a trailer for The Bridge on the River Kwai including a shot of Alec Guinness falling on the detonator.

My .02 is that the movie is technically one of Scott's best (other than some old age makeup at one point). But it ends right when it's getting interesting.

Overall, I thought it was pretty good - the atmosphere is reminiscent of the original Alien, the acting was good, and the score, while 'being its own thing', also homages the original Alien score. I like how the interior of the Prometheus resembles that of the Nostromo in some areas, as well. The 3D was used to good effect, particularly during the 'silica storm' sequence.

I find myself thinking that it's not a prequel to Alien; rather, it's a different story set in the same universe. The events in Prometheus don't lead into or directly inflence those in Alien.

The movie is great, I just have one major problem.

    SPOILERS
The initial idea of the movie was to explain the origin of the Space Jokey from Alien. Well the movie did many thing but not that. I would accept this only if the movie was made with the clear idea that there will be a sequel coming in the next few years. Let's face it - An Engineer sacrificed himself to create life on Earth then many years later their main purpose is to eradicate mankind without any explanation??? The only explanation that the movie gave was David's comment "every children wants to kill his father". Which was pretty lame. If they put only one sentence from the Engineers like "you've become a thread or you humans are plague" then the movie would have made sense. But no, all the awoken Engineer did was was to kill everybody around without any sense. This was the main downside for me. Of course they could explain this in the sequel but that's not how a movie is done.
    SPOILERS

    Theory...

Folks were speculating that the cloaked Engineer in the beginning is a symbolic representation of the Greek titan, Prometheus. After all, Ridley Scott wouldn't just name the movie after the ship.

As you know, in the myth, Prometheus gave humans fire against the gods' wishes, and paid the price for it. Here, "Prometheus" gave Earth life, against the wishes of the other Engineers, and he paid the price as well.

So my guess is that today's Engineers want to reverse everything "Prometheus" has done.

But I guess the movie should have clarified that a little more. Oh well.

^ Yep, one of the better theories but indeed they should have clarified some things a little.
Well at least on the Blu-ray there will be an extended cut of the movie that will be 20 minutes longer. The whole amount of deleted scenes on the Blu-ray will be 30 minutes. Not bad, eh?
And there is a scene in which Shaw confronts the Engineer with an axe.
