Riki-Oh The Story of Ricky on Blu: KICKASS movie, one of my faves since i rented it 12 years ago on video. it's a non-stop gory (in a cheesy way) and action packed 1991 Hong Kong/Japanese live-action Sci-fi action bloodbath in the tradition of Ichi The Killer and Battle Royale with a hint of Evil Dead 2 and Mortal Kombat games. Recommended if you like martial arts and action including bloodbaths.
Continuing on my Halloween horror viewing:
Near Dark: violent, stylish and unique 80's cult classic vampire movie with Bill Paxton who is the shit as Severen the badass motherfucking vampire.
Perfect Blue: Japanese animated horror thriller for adults that plays with your mind and challenges you even with dark themes and bloody violence.
Saw: A modern horror classic that has spawned many unnecessary sequels and sort of like the next Silence of the Lambs and Se7en.
Maniac (1980): Revolting and still electrifying slasher shocker with great make-up effects by Tom Savini and has realistic depictions of shootings, stabbings, scalpings, hangings and all that. Joe Spinell of Godfather fame was great as the title killer.
The Invisible Man (1933): one of the best Sci-fi horror movies of all time.
Day of the Dead (1985) on Blu-Ray: looks and sounds great in high def, this is the goriest movie of the 80's next to Cannibal Holocaust and Men Behind The Sun, this is easily the darkest and sometimes most unpleasant entry in the Romero zombie saga. Tom Savini's make-up effects rule in this one.
Attack the Block - the best and funniest alien movie of the year! :borat

Near Dark is getting a remake, what do you think of that?

Yesterday me and my wife had an anniversary and we went to see Crazy, Stupid, Love. I'm not a big fan of romantic comedies but this movie was really good. Good humor, good actors (they made Ryan Gosling look really good) and some great story turns. Highly recommended. Just an advice - don't watch any trailers of the movie, just go and see it.![]()
The Green Hornet- Pretty forgettable. A few nice scenes visually that I expected from Michel Gondry, but otherwise, it was just kinda dumb. Jay Chou was pretty good, Seth Rogan was pretty awful (and I've liked Rogen in many of his movies).
Moneyball- Absolutely incredible. Brad Pitt does a great job, as does Jonah Hill. The story is fantastic, and I would've never guessed that such a riveting movie could be made from that book. Shame on me to bet against Aaron Sorkin. He did it with The Social Network; he did it here. The man's talents know no bounds.

"My story is of many thousands, and the world will not suffer if it ends too soon."
A Serbian Film: One of the most unbelievably screwed up movies I've ever seen. Not for the faint-hearted or folks with weak stomachs.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Far as I'm concerned, the best of the three.
Sanctum - cool but freaky at times.
Limitless - remind's me of a drug that was released a few years ago that had similar properties (increased concentration and it made subjects endure long amounts of time in strenuous mental activity - designed for stealth aircraft pilots)
Thor - just terrible, I hope the Avengers movie won't be as bad as this movie was.
and a few Bollywood movie's =)
The only way to predict the future is to invent it.
Green Lantern.
Considering all the bad reviews I had so low expectations that actually I thought the movie was OK. Especially the first half - pretty close to the comics. The Paralax battle was pretty pathetic but I think this movie has a potential for a sequel (the first idea was for a trilogy).
"The Addams Family" & "Addams Family Values"

I just love these movies. I could watch them back to back all day.
"You know why the departures and the arrivals at LAX are on separate levels? So the 30,000 heartbreakers that come here each month don't notice the 30,000 that are leaving with their hearts broken."
The Toxic Avenger: Disgusting, funny and politically incorrect cult 1985 Sci-fi horror comedy that put Troma on the map and loved it since i was 15 when i saw it uncut and uncensored on video, it's similar to Kick-Ass and more tasteless as it includes graphic scenes of gore in creative ways including a child getting his head crushed by a car shown in detail then the killers who killed the kid takes pictures of his corpse and busted head. It's mainly a dark comedy with it's sick humor and a twist on superhero stuff as it's about a nerd who was teased then fell into a barrel of waste to become a mutant bald hulk-like superhero who rips apart killers, rapists, murderers and corrupted politicians.
Saw II: Great sequel, the best of the sequels so far and just as smart as the original modern classic.
Halloween III Season of the Witch: Underrated and misunderstood Sci-fi horror movie that was suppose to take the Halloween franchise on a new step of making it into an anthology of different halloween themed horror movies for the franchise but failed, it was an experiment that backfired.
Horror of Dracula: A hammer classic, Christopher Lee played one of the best Draculas ever.
Vampire Hunter D 1 & part 2 Bloodlust: Classic Japanese animated horror fantasy epics, loved the first one since i was 12 18 years ago when i saw it on TBS and it's sequel is superior with better animation and action plus good storytelling.
Inside (2007): quality French shocker about a pregnant woman trying to save her unborn child from a scissors weilding cretin that keeps murdering off the guests, not for the faint hearted but very well made.
Dumbo on Blu-Ray: What can i say? one of my childhood faves that looks great in high def
Not much, but there have been times when I though the remakes were better than the originals. The Crazies was the most recent, and the best would be the Lord of the Rings, the live action movie puts the cartoon one to shame. And of course, Michael Bay's Transformers I find to be way better made than the 1986 cartoon. So, who knows, maybe the new Near Dark will be better.
Real Steel.
Go check it.![]()
Ghostbusters 2
"I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to other people and I expect the same from them."
-John Wayne (The Shootist)
Reel Steel: Great fun
Poltergeist: A true Spielberg film in every sense and very scary too.
Deep Red: Dario Agrento's masterpiece of horror and suspense, influenced Saw, Se7en and many others.
A Nightmare on Elm Street 1984: What can i say? a classic and looks nice in high def.
Real Steel
Drive x2
The Thing (2011)
Else, I saw Drive yesterday. Really liked it. Sorta left me confused dunno why. But in a good way. The balance is interesting in the film and good acting. Good story. A little bit to obvious. Only the songs used and the way they were used have irritated me. If the character feels angry or sad or happy. I dont want to hear it said out loud in the song. Also I dont want to hear the motif sung in the songs.
Saw What just happened today. Hahhh I really didnt like the cinematography. But it is a hillarious movie for anybody in or interested in the movie industry. Also female studio executive:!!!
