I watched the original Highlander again last night.

    It's aged well.

watched warrior, was very good! its kinda like the fighter but for ufc, its a serious and emotional movie, about a broken family, a tournament, good story, great fights.. worth watching.

Drive. I didn't care for it. Was expecting a movie about car chases and the mob, not about a bunch of staring.

13 Assassins is fuckin' awesome, Takashi Miike is such a unique and controversial director in Japan. You should check out his infamous "Ichi The Killer" from 2001 which is a fucked up horror-action-thriller-dark comedy based on a Japanese comic book and is hard to watch at times even with it's torture and gore scenes. If you liked 13 Assassins, you should check out Shogun Assassin and the anime classic Ninja Scroll.

Continuing on my horror movie watching for September and October.

Dracula (1931): Still the best adaptation of the novel yet, i grew up with this movie since i was a kid when i rented it on video.

Videodrome on Blu-Ray: David Cronenberg's second best after The Fly, a vicious, gory, sexual and unique Science Fiction horror cult classic with James Woods who plays a sleazy porn and violence network who gets snuff tapes and gets hallucinations that take him on a trip to take down the place that created the snuff videos. This was original Torture Porn with great make-up effects by Rick Baker and predated Hostel 1 & 2 and 8MM by years on it's subject matter.

The Last House on The Left (1972) on blu-ray: Absolutely horrifying movie, though i did enjoyed it's remake from 2009, this one is more harsher and more real as Wes Craven's debut movie is a tough one to watch that even it got an X-rating when it was released. It feels like a snuff film at times with it's old school camera trickery, rape and murder scenes but a go-for-the-jugular movie with a cringe worthy BJ scene no one would forget. This made me sick when i was a young teen renting it on video and chilled.

Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. One of the most horrible movies I have ever seen.

    I loved it.

Thor on Blu-Ray: after seeing it 3 times in theaters, i gotta say it's the best Marvel movie this year. This one felt like a nice homage to the 80's sword and sorcery movies.
X-Men First Class on Blu-ray; Much better than Wolverine and X3, the best one since parts 1 & 2.
Continuing on my september/October Halloween season horror viewing.

Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer on blu-ray: One of the scariest and most horrifying movies of all time! this has been one of my fave horror movies ever, this infamous and critically acclaimed cult horror drama sensation is well acted and shot with some disturbing realistic images including the murder of a family while the killers are filming the murder to make snuff tapes. Based on actual serial killer Henry Lee Lucas's life.

Psycho II: Excellent sequel to the original masterpiece, Robert Loggia was terrific in it and Perkins proves he is still Norman Bates.

Wolf Creek: Disturbing and chilling Australian import in the tradition of The Last House on The Left, Maniac and Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer, also based on a real story.

Frankenstein (1931): Still the greatest of Frankenstein's adaptations.

Well I never did see Legion as I had heard bad things about it so I can't compare the two. I didn't know at first that they were both by the same director.

IMO it is simply an OK/descent movie, not a great movie but not a terrible movie. It probably could have used a bit more to it.

The end sets up for a sequel (which is common nowadays). I just hope they use a better screenwriter and director for it. The screenwriter for Priest did OK so I can't complain too much about the story. It simply needed a bit more character development.

The good of it was the acting, production, and casting.

It makes me interested in looking up the comics that it is based on. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Priest_%28manhwa%29

Priest i thought suck, your better off watching Let The Right One In, Thirst (2009 Korean movie), Daybreakers and Let Me In for superior modern vampire movies.

    Continuing on my halloween viewing.

Creature from The Black Lagoon:Simply a masterpiece of 50's Sci-fi and horror, one of my boyhood faves.

Cannibal Holocaust: Ultraviolent, sadistic and unique POV lost footage horror film from Italy that started the whole POV Lost footage horror genre and influenced Blair Witch, Paranormal Activity, and more. When i saw this in 2001 at a midnight screening, i felt sick as it felt so real even when i saw those animals actually getting killed such as a large river turtle actually getting butchered to even a monkey getting it's brain sliced by a tribal person, good thing the DVD has an animal cruelty free version that cuts out of the real animal killing and leave the human violence in. Basically about lost film cans found in a South American jungle brought back to New York and New York TV executives view the footage as it's a movie within a movie as we see the filmmakers of the documentary within the film leave New York and explore the amazon jungles for legendary cannibals. Difficult to watch and quite realistic stuff that it remains a controversial movie.

REC 2: Not too bad sequel to the 2007 POV Spanish horror zombie-infection demon movie of the same name but very enjoyable and suspenseful.

Audition: slow burning but very stylish and disturbing Japanese psychological horror thriller that goes for the jugular and painful to watch at times but well acted, well shot and scary as well. Takashi Miike of Ichi The Killer fame who directed this is a great director.

I need to see Let the Right One In. I saw it's remake, Let Me In (maybe it was just a dull night, but I ended up turning the thing off about half way through, it was so boring) but I did see parts of the original that seemed more high tempo.

If you thought the remake was boring the original will put you in a coma.

The original was awesome!! It proved that teen vampires may have a sort of "love" story withouth shining a-holes and all Twilight crap!

Saw The Lion King last night. Still as enjoyable as it was 17years ago. It was great, being surrounded by the kids and their parents, all singing the songs and having a good time.

Hey Link, i agree Let The Right One In and it's US adaptation of the novel Let me In both put Twilight to shame and are aimed at adults and are more intelligent than that.

Have you seen the 2009 Korean vampire movie "Thirst"? it's from the director of the kick-ass modern Korean masterpiece "Oldboy" and it's about a catholic priest who goes under an experiment from Africa that makes him warty all over but when he drinks blood he is cured as he seeks more blood and even jumps high and climbs even burns in the sun. An unconventional love story that is dark, erotic and bloody as well and also aimed at adults.

Continuing on my Halloween viewing marathon:

Misery on Blu-Ray: Doesn't look to bad in high def, definitely a modern classic i saw 3 times in theaters when i was 9 and has been my fave king movie.

Cannibal Ferox: Violent and gory Italian exploitation movie that is a cheesy rip-off of the classic Cannibal Holocaust, it's fun and sleazy but there's also some disgusting scenes of genuine animal killing like a turtle being beheaded to a wildpig being stabbed for real and a baby alligator being mutilated alive.

Re-Animator: Simply a great cult classic Sci-fi horror comedy that is the best Lovecraft adaptation, Jeffery Combs was brilliant as Herbert West and this movie has been a fave of mine since i was 16 and it's a gory, sleazy and funny as hell movie that you have to see to believe and one of the best zombie movies ever. It's Evil Dead does Frankenstein.

The Wolf Man (1941): Still the best werewolf movie of all time.

Hmmm. When it comes to vampire stuff, I found the TV shows to actually be better than theatrical attempts on the lore. Favorites are Buffy, The Vampire Slayer, and Forever Knight. Favorite movie though, would probably be Interview with a Vampire. I watched the first Twilight, and the best part of the movie is when the girl falls down the steps on her father's porch. Other than that, the movie really sucked.

Last movie I saw, I am seeing right now. Big. Classic. Just got done watching the piano scene. Still one of my favorites in any movie.

Hey Warhorse, go watch 1987's cult classic from Kathryn Bigelow "Near Dark", one of the awesomest vampire movies ever. Now Bill Paxton who plays Severen the vampire is so kick-ass he puts Lestat to shame.
