We hate to go against what Michael Bay (http://www.superherohype.com/news/topnews.php?id=6297#) said about the IMAX release of Transformers, after all he IS the director, but from what we are hearing the September 21 re-release has been timed at 149 minutes. The original theatrical release was 144 minutes.

Bay previously said here (http://michaelbay.com/blog/files/imax-xtra-footage.html) that the large format version would have 2 minutes of extra footage. Could it be 5 minutes now?

Either way, the fans win, as you'll get to see the robots even bigger along with more footage than before!

I wonder where they are getting this. But just for the sake of it, I hope it's true.

Nelson.... Time to input.

Even if it was the same as the theatrical version I would still go!

I'm really looking forward to it.

exactly. When they announced the IMAX release, I was excited. I didn't even know that they had more footage added. I told myself, I was already there. And then when they announced more footage, I got even more excited.

So the extra minutes is just bonus. The fact that it has an IMAX release is a treat on its own.

I hate it when people say, WHAT!! Only 2 minutes?!?! Whatta ripoff! They aren't realizing that they were already planning to watch it without the extra footage so they complain like a bunch of hypocrites.

That, and 2 minutes is a lot, too. It may not seem like it, but I've been in the editing bay working on my own projects and taking out footage and adding footage; it's expensive and tricky.

I'm going if I can. The closest IMAX is 20 minutes away from me so...

Wasn't Pearl Harbor like 2 minutes longer than the theatrical cut? How much longer was the director's cut of Armageddon? Like 2 or 3 minutes? Look at how much that added to the movie...

that seems a little off...I mean why would they say it would be an additional 2 minutes then say it would be 5?

Either way I'm seeing it again, but personally, I would save some for the dvd seeing it comes out few weeks after; that's just me, though. I'm a big 'special features' junkie... :)

I hope Paramount is going to release the HD-DVD and DVD versions with the new extended cut and maybe use seamless branching to allow customers to play the original theatrical cut on the same disc.
