New member here, hey.
I'm from France and I've been a fan of Mr. Bay ever since The Rock. Though I had seen Bad Boys in theaters the year before, The Rock was the one that got me crazy about his vision.
I'm a 24-year old aspiring director and as many frustrated wannabes (:)), I currently write reviews for a french website (http://www.filmdeculte.com/).
Amongst other things, I'm their designated Michael Bay guy and I've been defending him now on that site since 2003 when I first wrote the review for Bad Boys II.
I also wrote a "portrait" of sorts, kinda looking back on his films, his carrer, how his style evolved and everything...I'm sorry, it's in french but here's the link if there are french-speaking members here who'd like to check it out :

You'll see I'm quite the Bay enthusiast...
Just so you can get where I stand on his movies from the get-go, here's my Top 7 :
1. The Rock
2. The Island
3. Armageddon
4. Transformers
5. Bad Boys II
6. Bad Boys
7. Pearl Harbor

The first two are, to me, perfect films. I wouldn't take a thing out of them (well maybe a joke or a helicopter shot from The Island :D).
Number 3 and 4 are just great entertainment cinema with some of the most powerful sequences in his carrer, where some shots just become fucking ICONIC IMAGES (the whole sequence leading up to the launch in Armageddon with the Presiden'ts speech and the arrival of the Autobots in Transformers both get me in tears every time I watch them).
As for the Bad Boys movies, I thought the first one was a hell of way to burst onto the scene (and still contains what might be my favorite of all the "signature Bay shots") and the second one, while a bit too much, was just insanely fun (I mean, the chase with the corpses and shit, it's so crazy it's genius!!!).
Pearl Harbor. Maybe the greatest action sequence Bay's ever directed is the attack scene...it's just as masterpiece, a lesson in moviemaking in the display of mayhem. But everything else, while exceptionally pretty-looking (I could just take any shot and make it a beautiful wallpaper for my computer screen), felt a little too "cliché" for me...

ANYWAY...I know this was a long-ass message, I just hoped I could cram as much information about me and my taste regarding Michael Bay's cinema in a post as to get "on page" with some of the older members here.

Sure i could find lot's of mistakes in many movies (well... i made i physical analysis about Armageddon LOL), but always i try to get into every film particular coherence. When a movie is entertaining enough, ¿who thinks about if it brokes any law?

correct me if i'm wrong but i thought it was illegal to have anything that gave the impression to other people that you are a cop. Hence why those neon lights ppl put in their cars a couple years back that were red or blue and pulsed to the music were illegal.

in new mexico the laws states anyone in the "act of impersonating a cop is a misdemeanor and the second is a felony."and new mexico state statutes law indicates "any car marked to look like a 'NEW MEXICO STATE POLICE' vehicle would be charged with a misdemeanor.my car does not meet these laws guidelines...by the way...i checked with the D.A.'s office here in new mexico before doing this.indicating to the head prosecutor my intentions.so imitating art wins over malicious intent.:D TRANSFORM AND TERRORIZE !!!!!!!!

Good to hear man!! I saw the report on the web. You've clearly got the word Transformers displayed on the windshield and doors. You don't even have a light bar or altered headlamps/rear lamps. Plus, I don't know about NM, but here in TX I'm always seeing refurbished/auctioned police cruisers (caprices, crown vics, etc.) rolling around with the same paint scheme (color body/white door). They even still have the push-bars and A-pillar spotlights on them.



To Agony: I think DOT laws vary from state2state in terms of enforcement IIRC, in any case, the presence of altered lights/light bar would probably have been a no-no. As I think you are only allowed to have only a certain # of red & amber in rear, and amber in front. (excluding back-ups and headlamps)

Hello fellow board members. Just stopping in here to "introduce" myself. I always hate introductions because most of the time they come out sounding extremely.....lame. Oh, well.

I guess I should put a little about myself here.....I've watched many films directed by Michael Bay and overall I enjoy what I see. He's always been in a sense a dark horse of directors..IMO. Bad Boys will be an all time favorite film of mine that Michael has worked on. And of course, I am a Transformers fan. I was really impressed overall in the final turn out of the film. I used to watch the cartoon when I was little, it was one of those few shows I'd always make time to see. Of course now I laugh at myself and think...yikes, 20 something years later this cartoon is still apart of my life somehow... :eek: All those feelings of nostalgia coming back I guess lol.

Some memorable moments from Bay's films: the shower scene in The Rock, the Independence crashing in Armageddon, and Rafe and Danny shooting down Zeros in Pearl Harbor...

I'm a 32 year old industrial mechanic at a local nuke power plant.

Been playing guitars since I was 7, although not as much in the last couple of years.

I have a 2004 Dodge Ram Laramie 4x4....yeah..its gotta hemi:D. I installed an STS Turbo kit, and my 5800lb truck runs 0-60mph in about 4.5 seconds, and 1/4 mile at 13.2 seconds.

Did think about starting of re-collecting them back in 1991.But to get the origanal G1's made out of metal was never going to happen and plus the cost to get them.

even now to get some of the recasted G1 TF are made from plastic and not as well as the one back in the 80's.

Looking back on it it's kind of funny seeing all them Autobot and decepticon melted to gether like that.

would have to say having prime melted over megatron look cool. The only one that realy survived the fire was Jetfire.

I'm 21 currently. I'm a big fan of science fiction, particulary TF universe (and again particulary.. well, you know who)) ). Really addicted to orchestral film music, especially to Alan Silvestri's work. I also think that Steve Jablonsky has got a potential to become a famous composer in the future if he's still not in present.

Well, what else.. Though my main hobby is music, i like to draw, write some fan-fiction from time to time.

Wow, all of this time, from joining to evolving from a junior member to a member, I had no idea there was a thread like this!

Anyway:

I am Trailbreaker. I have been fighting in the great war along my Autobot comrads for over 4 million years. When we arrived to Earth, I have tried my best to assimalate with human culture, by entering forums such as this.

Just kidding!

I am a high school student from Some Really Small Town, NY. I am a massive fan of Transformers, though G1 was never my first experience. Probably my first ever transformers experience would be beast Machines, I only remeber one shot from that cartoon. Then there was Robots in Disguise, barly remember that too. My first MAJOR Transformers experience is Armada. That's when I first got into it I even own some toys from that one, they include Optimus Prime, Hot Shot, Smokescreen, Sideways, Blurr, Scavenger, Powerlinx Jetfire, Overload, Street action Mini-con team, Sea Mini-con team, and my favorite of all, Unicron!

I kinda got into Transformers: Energon, but never bought any of their toys. I never got into Transformer: Cybertron. This is a period in which I was losing interest.

Then I saw the teaser for the movie. I was like "WTF? Yeah right!" Then I really got into it and started buying action figures from the movie. They include Ironhide, Bumblebee (1976 camaro), Jazz, Bonecrusher, Rachet, and Arcee. If you notice, I am an Autobot guy. My older brother however this the decepticon guy respectively.

Because of the movie, I have been doing some G1 research too. You can't beat the classics!

So there you have it: another massive Transformers fan in the forums.

No one actually knows how the protectobots came to be. There was never any explanation. My guess is that, since Starscream made the combaticons, and gave them life from existing decepticon prisoners, Prime and Co went back to cybertron and got vector sigma to give life to a new team, The protectobots.

There's also the possibility that they had already existed as independent transformers. Ratchet and Wheeljack could have modified them with combining capabilities allowing them to merge into Defensor.

Hello! Not much to tell about me. Transformers is the only Michael Bay movie I have thus far seen but its also my FAVORITE movie right now:) I hope to eventually see some of his other movies when I get some time to go rent them! Bad Boys 2 is my favorite, but the Rock is also a good one to try.
