Im concidering buying the imax version and id like to know what parts of the movie were actually filmed in that format. is it worth it?

then why is there a TF1 version called "the IMAX experience" said to have a couple more minutes of movie, including Fig's death?

Simply because it was played in an IMAX theater. They more or less blew up the film to accommodate the IMAX projector.

The Imax version did have a couple minutes of extra footage, including a hilarious scene with Sherry Shepard!

It was just later reformated to fit the imax screen and some extra stupid human sceens were added but it was never in imax 3d.
