Ya know, I would prefer a different director, crew and a whole new take on JRRT's world. But that's just me, I didn't really like how Jackson screwed the ending of Return Of The King.
Plus, Bilbo's unconcious for the entire climactic battle in The Hobbit ... how's he gonna work that? Change it so the hero's not knocked out? What would TF have been like if Optimus sat out the climax?

You've read the books right? The return to the Shire should have been followed by the sacking of the Shire by a roving group of Orcs who were not yet killed in the battle. Leaving it up to just the Hobbits to save their village from them. Or Saruman and Wyrmtongue reduced to nothing begging for alms on the road after he's lost his power. Basically, where Jackson ended the movie there was like another 4 or 5 chapters of story left.

PRECISELY. That should have been the ending right there.
Waited eight hours for that ending and....NOTHING. :(

Glad to see it's not just my buds and I who think he screwed the pooch at the end there. If yove never read the books I guess it's an ok ending though. People seem to like it.

To me, it dragged on and on and ON....my dad was squirming, thinking "Get on the BOAT FRODO!!!"
And then....it ended. Credits roll and I'm sitting there thinking....huh? What did I miss?

Read them a long, long time ago... like twenty years ago or four dogs back. (I obviously don't recall it like you two do.:o) Honestly, I don't really reacall Jackson's version all that well either and that is a whole lot more recent. And the re-cut version made more sense, but baby those suckers were all long. They had to be, but apparently they needed to be longer... I don't think I could have cut one film being longer (squirming in the seat as it was / have they never heard of intermission? Pleassseee).
I liked them enough, but I don't want to re-watch them.
I wanted....TOM BOMBADIL to be in it damnit. I really enjoyed him in the book, but nooo, not in the movie. *hmph*

Okay, stop showing off, Lucy. I already admitted to being old and feeble minded. Leave me alone! ;)
:D
I had to read them in high school English, which was oh-so-long ago....well, not really, but it seems that way.
Awww, and I'm not pickin' on you. :p

The archer takes smog down. You just focus on the Archer, and the villagers getting their chance to battle a beast the has no doubt plagued them for some time. Not to mention stolen any gold they may have.
EDIT: Yea I had to read them in HS too, along with Beowulf, Great Gatsby, Scarlet Letter, and many other ones. Only had to do the Hobbit for School. Everything else was some kind of odd long descriptive novel. I Only liked George Orwells stuff. 1984, Animal Farm, oh and Lord of the Flies. Those were good.

I read somewhere that Viggo may come back and play the archer....which....meh, I'm a little leery about.
Viggo was great as Aragorn, but Smog's killer needs to be someone else me thinks.
And is Jackson going to split this one up into two movies? The article talks about two movies, sooo I'm assuming that....*shrug*
LOTR was still great though. And my English teacher (HS) refused to see it for the fact Bombadil was not in it.

I heard that! Under your breath, "...much".
High school, oh yeah, that's about four dogs ago plus. Didn't have to read Tolken in school, purely an elective. What did I have to read? Did I have to read? Dang. I recall hating algebra, and taking German (ich sprechen zie Deutch?). I think I've blocked most of it out. Course the 20s kind of were like that as well -- nothing but a blur. It's a bi%t$h getting old, so miss my eyes and memory.
:D:D:D
:D
Okay, gotta go, be back later.

That would be a bad move to bring Viggo back, UNLESS they can make it a tie in. After all he was a Roving Ranger. Could work. I lean to the persuasion of ONLY IF IT FITS. I loved History of Violence that movie was GREAT. Shame not other oscar nods than Will Hurt's win *I digress*. N e who I just want to make sure the whole Biblo and The cavern scene is done right, and that the smog session is done right. There are some favorites a lotta people have. Oh, think it'll be the same spider? They pretty much did travel the same lands. I hope Jackson can come to terms with new line it'll be good to keep all in the same look and feel.
Now we have to get a film made for the game Diablo That would bring much joy to mine heart.:D

I always say it, novels should never be movies, too much material to cover. Books should be a series or a mini series at least. Give them 6-8 hours per book and it'll get all the story in. Since we all agree stuff was missing.
As for bringing back Viggo. No, confuses things too much, it's not Aragorn so why bring him back. The only reason would be providing a familiar face for people who have not read the books to latch onto.
