The biggest problem I have with it is what would Optimus use it for? I can't see him combineing with it, and if he had to make a sharp turn in vehical mode it would be pretty much in the way. I'm not even sure it would look right with the vehical mode he's currently useing. However, that doesn't mean it couldn't be in the movie, I just don't know how it would work.

Exactly. It's got no practical purpose.

Also, looking at it from a technical standpoint, and by that I mean the actual purpose of the truck itself, if the custom Peterbuilt 379 we see on film were to have a trailer, it would be a flatbed trailer. Why? The answer lies with the big chrome rack on the back of the sleeper.

It's designed to protect the driver in case the load on the back of the trailer comes loose when breaking.

There is only one way I could see Prime with a trailer. He could volunteer his services to haul a load to where they are rebuilding the city after a battle with the Decepticons.

Now if it would have been in say a city fight or a highway or something of the such, then the trailer would have worked. He could possibly use it for battle purposes. Such as surface to air, anti-seeker combat. Especially if they bring in the other 2 original seekers, Skywarp, and Thundercracker. But, other than that, it wouldn't fit. It would be in the way. Plus it would slow OP down significantly when in alt mode. But if he does wear his trailer, Roller damn sure better be included.

Hmmm! i think the trailer should not be used as it would be to cumbersome and he's not the old G1 truck anymore but more of a updated version, i like the way he is i don't see any reason to add more complex details to him as he is fine the way he is. :)

I tend to agree with the argments against giving Optimus Prime a trailer - again, it would be too cumbersome and a hindrance while he's moving in vehicle mode. Plus, he would have to retrieve it if he moves a large distance from where he left it to transform into robot mode, which would be a detriment to his response time.

I agree that Prime should be without his trailer. I just don't think it would work all that well in the movie. I like him without his trailer.

Is it just me who thinks the trailer should have been in the last film.
Right at the beginning when the truck is pulling the NEST trailer it coud have, should have been prime.
Rather than having him parachute into the action he could have pulled the NEST mobile base and like in the cartoon he could have used the rockets to release him from the trailer and transform in mid air as the Base came to a stop on its own.

I totally agree. Optimus should have been carrying the trailer transporting the NEST team. It didn't need to transform, rather, it could have simply been a means to transport the team then ditched before the battle. It was a great opportunity.

I totally agree to that!
In fact I think it shouldn't be in the movie at all. It will just be too much for the majority of people in the world that are in the younger generations.
I don't think, they would think it is "cool."
But hey, thats my opinion. Either way, if this was a vote, I would vote against it!

I think a trailer will play great homage to the Hasbro Cartoon series. Maybe it could be a NEST mobile command base, he drops it off before transforming. I'd be happy just once to see him say " Autobots role out" with the trailer attached.

I liked his G1 trailer- for Roller to live and as a weapon's platform... I don't think it would translate will in the Bay films, no one wants a million "where does it go when he transforms" sillyness threads.

In ROTF Mudflap and Skids had their intro as two bots combined to be one ugly Ice Cream Truck that in all honesty was about as big as either of them in their new single car forms. No one ever questiond why they never merged again in the film and why their new single car forms were as big as they were together as the ice cream truck. Why cant Prime's trailer have an intro as a new Autobot? Maybe even Roller? And he decides to scan and take on the look of Prime's trailer but when Prime transforms his trailer does not just have to roll away and be useless. It can also transform into a bot mode Roller and maybe even combine at some point with Prime like the concept art showed. Sounds good to me.

Maybe a short "cameo" trailer for a brief moment if they have a base to set up... but since OP is flying around in those jumbo aircrafts a trailer wouldn't make sense.
