WTH?! I mean I know internet marketing is big, but nothing? This is a risky move. There aren't that many people outside the net who know anything about it. So there has to be either a mass campaign, or they used the budget up on the flick, and went for Viral Marketing. But, they are running a huge gamble. I am legend did a similar thing, but it has Will Smith... that's enough to draw a crowd also. Unless there is some JJ Abrhams LOST crew that they are banking on there needs to be a little more. Anyone know anything else about the marketing? Or a website besides the random pictures and teh monster sound?

I heard a tid bit and dont know if its true but the movie may be based on the old video game Rampage. I think the first Rampage game was Rampage in New York or something like that.

A) To see an epic trainwreck of a movie that gets crushed under all of the percieved hype. And be the "I told you so" guy.

or

B) Get pleasantly surprised by something that's managed to stay under the radar this long in this day and age.

It's a $10 gamble that harks back to the days before the internet was there to serve us all of the spoilers we could eat. I love it.

Touche' Urry. But think of it more as regression in marketing. They apparently set a precedent by not having an official title to market via teaser trailer. I don't know man, I'm not trying to convince you otherwise or anything like that, but with everything being so saturated these days, the mystery of it is a welcomed change of pace.

If you are referring to the filming style of the movie, then I can't help there, that comes down to preference and motion sickness threshold. My understanding is that while it is filmed handheld-style, it is not necessarily done with consumer handycams or anything like that. I don't mind the Blair Witch style, but it better damned well have the payoff that BW didn't.

If it ends up blowing chunks, thats the last time they'll try pulling crap like that for a while. Then people can go back to the marketing norm of basking in their spoiler info, script leaks, AICN scoops, Burger King tie-ins, and MySpace pages...

(btw, whats wrong with cutting edge cgi in b&w? if it calls for it?)

I'm just messin with ya. I don't really think any of the above is bad, I just find it hard to get excited over this film, and the lack of advertise makes me feel like no cares enough about this film to sell it.

I don't know guys. the trailer of namless cloverfeild looked sick when I first saw tf 1. everyone wanted to know what it was called and it's 2 trailer has seemed to spread like wildfire through the net. Still haven't seen a trailer on t.v though. But think about all the people who went to see tf1 openning day and thereafter, and have access to the net.

Addicted? If anything good worth watching is on, sure. Otherwise, it puts me to sleep.

The Departed is really very good. Of course I was dragged to see it because Matt Damon's in it. But I enjoyed it.

Stop sulking...so unbecoming on your young face... besides, fudge is here! I'm currently drinking lots of water to fend off a sugar coma -- and that was only one itty bitty square (maybe 1"x0.5"x1"). Eyes rolling back into the head...can't think...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I've actually started seeing trailers on T.V.. This is actually not going to be as largely shot on hand held as we think. From how it looks, just think about the final 20 minutes of Children of Men where it's almost battlefield reporting. But, there are other things also. They still aren't giving people a reason to go see this film other than curiosity. is this a giant diversion for LOST? There was supposed to be a lost film, and the new season (I don't watch) starts Jan 30th. So who knows. All I do remember is watching LOST's first season and wishing to hell is WAS a monster. We all did. That alone should give people the reference to pull from and knowing that is what people want to see.

When the first Cloverfield trailer came out (I think with Spiderman 3) my coworker and I suggested maybe it was the monster from Lost who found his way back to the mainland and decided to attack New York.

Then the talk began: "It's a remake of Godzilla...did you hear that Godzilla noise it made?" blah blah BLAH.

I could care less now I think.

Wow... A bunch of Myspace pages, and tons of radio marketing... but no TV... Either brilliant or dumb.

Pretty much only 18 days... GAY! I still think my guess about the whale i 100% right because of all of the drilling equipment websites, the SLUSHO site, and the random things on YouTube (planted by marketing). It's looking like this has good potential, but what the heck. If they are doing it like you find this camera tape and stick it in and you see what they see how can they explain the drilling? The whole idea of how did it get here can't be shown. I will be seeing this.

ましょう。クレソン、カブラ、しいたけをそうめんの周りに散らして下さい。鶏肉は
薄くスライスしてそうめんの上に扇状に散らします。海底の蜜を出す直前にソースに

Thank you for viewing! Today, I teach you how to make a delicious dish of the week.
Please make sure to serve it cool!

-Skinless chicken breast 2 slices in half-cut
-Somen (*Japanese angel-hair noodle)
-Watercress shredded 1/2 cup
-Turnip sliced 1/2 cup
-Siitake mushroom 1/2 cup
-Chicken stock 1/3 cup
-Sake 2 tablespoon
-Sugar 1/2 teaspoon
-Seabed honey (*Seabed nectar?)
Add 1/3 cup water, chicken stock, Sake, sugar into a small saucepan. Heat it to boiling and let it cool
completely. Grill the chicken 8 minutes on each side and cool it too. Boil Somen 3 minutes and run it under
cold water. Garnish Somen with watercress, turnip, siitake mushrooms. Slice the chicken and spread it like a
fan on Somen. Right before serving, add Seabed honey into the sause, and pour it on Somen generously.

And they spelled it strangely in Hiragana. Maybe this is reading too much, but in reading out this Japanese sentence backward, it could be heard as six Western alphabets, F C C O K K.

Check out Slusho.jp if you have spare time and see if you can see anything in Japanese to see if there are clues. OH, and there is a horse on the website a "sea horse" and a whale.

Is there some language translation between the whale, or any of the things there. Gosh you rock dude-ette.

OH, Sora Go, Go Yummy Chef could be an allusion to "Go, Go Power Rangers". Sounds nuts, but when the monster got bigger they would go go. So you take the Nectar, ingest it, and get larger. As in power rangers! And Yummy relates to Slusho which I called "evolutionary cocaine". I'll post a link to my thread but I think with what you found out in like 8 words or less tells a ton. The Japanese Chef created a "yummy" culinary concoction that makes you "go-go".

EDIT 2: Oh also Deep see stations... drilling stations?! As in drilling to find sea-bed nectar rather than oil... If you spring a leak your fish could get more than it's fair share and "go-go". We gots it! Do you know of any emperor connection and Godzilla? or Maybe it's just a coincidence. But Emperor's were decedents from God... Sounds plausible as that this beast will bring God to every-one (Or bring them to God)

Whale was also known as "Isana" (Brave/hero fish) in ancient Japanese, and the sea-horse is usually called "Tatsu no Otoshigo" (Dragon god's lovechild) in Japan.

Dragon God's Love Child...! HOLY CRAP! Did you see the horse on the site? We have to go public with this stuff on the sites! WOOT! On the site it's a random picture of a horse but it's under water and randomly says yummy. I knew that lil beasty was weird!

EDIT: As a side note Japanese is #1 on my languages to learn. I have spanish... Now to go Japanese! This is cool. Ancient Japanese? I envy you Sora you speak English and Japanese. I can only imagine how that is. Time to find a teacher and get crackin. I am pumped!

I stared at the Slusho site and read it and scrutinized it. Thank God for sora who knew the ancient Japanese word for Sea Horse and picked up on the subtleties in the recipie because they are ALL important. I just wanna know about the Sylables. Is it a simple cyper or is it nothing... I am gonna figure this out.. I LOVE PUZZLES!

It's a simple cipher. There is also a related cloverfield site that you submit simple ciphers to. You wait for a reply and get an answer to the cypher.

F C C O K K with a=1 b=2 and so on to this email mentioned on the Cloverfield Project web-site... I just can't get in the damn site... You enter a cipher it's too simple and too obvious to not be something.

OH, Sora Go, Go Yummy Chef could be an allusion to "Go, Go Power Rangers". Sounds nuts, but when the monster got bigger they would go go. So you take the Nectar, ingest it, and get larger. As in power rangers! And Yummy relates to Slusho which I called "evolutionary cocaine". I'll post a link to my thread but I think with what you found out in like 8 words or less tells a ton. The Japanese Chef created a "yummy" culinary concoction that makes you "go-go".

EDIT 2: Oh also Deep see stations... drilling stations?! As in drilling to find sea-bed nectar rather than oil... If you spring a leak your fish could get more than it's fair share and "go-go". We gots it! Do you know of any emperor connection and Godzilla? or Maybe it's just a coincidence. But Emperor's were decedents from God... Sounds plausible as that this beast will bring God to every-one (Or bring them to God)

That translation makes me think slusho contains something equivilant to Coca-Cola actually having cocaine in it in the early years. It's going to be something along that line. A hallucination of a Moose saying "Take a chance" is about like a guy saying "Go ahead take a line". I don't think I hypothesized the entire plot, but I was damn close.

And I'll definitely tell ya about the film, but hopefully you'll be persuaded into seeing it before too long.

lmao once I see it I'll let you guys know how it is,like I've said before the movie site I belong too normally post movies early.already got like 7 movies not scheduled for release for another couple months.They havent done a screening of cloverfeild yet are I woulda seen it.I do know it's not a whale nor a chemical experimentation though. If you listen close to the preveiw at one point you can here some things that sound like flying insects.I think it's gonna be some kinda god zilla thing that has some kinda symbiot creatures that are on it and once the thing is attacked they dislodge and commence an attack of there own.

That's a good thing to know. I saw another trailer with a cut of what looked like the Chrystler or Warner building in NYC laid over. It was cut differetly and had some scenes in it from the Widget. I liked the way it was done.

oh yhea I'm pissed at myself,for not seeing the kite runner and across the universe in theatres.fuckin beutiful movies.Well the kite runner was I'm only like the first quarter of the way into across the universe but it seems like a really good love story so far.and for those of you who dont know what the kite runner is,it's a true story written about a childhood mistake made concerning friendship,and making an amenz for that mistake by putting ones life on the line for another,story is set in cali,but the real story takes place in pakistan,it was the second movie of the year that litterally had me crying check out the trailer on youtube or I can send a lionk to these movies they are definatly worth the sit,I can't say enouph about the kite runner for a forien film it was...A miraculous story,and awe inspiring as well as insightful to ones own motives and action from long ago as well as the present.

lol hey cade I hear ya bout the og superman.I got to tell you I never liked superman as a kid but after reeves passing I watched the movies again and was like whoa these are pretty good.on that same note mr reeves met tom welling of smallville and brandon routh and gave his consent of approval and appreciation to routh,as for tom they both had a pretty meaningful relationship.he actually talked to tom about his portrayal and how he thought he played the character well.As for the new movie I got to say for,someone who grew up dispising this character,brians story got me hooked and interested in all the possibilities I liked the idea of supes being a father and having short commings.like emotions.I also liked that brian singer did pay tribute to reeves in the movie.first the old lady in the begginning of the movie that lex ids ripping off is loius lane from the original superman movies also the bartender when he is at the bar drowning his sorrows the bartender was the sidekick reporter from the old movies as well.finally if you watch the old superman movies it always ends with him flying of to space with earth in the background and then a smile comes to his face. in the end of the new superman it is done exactly the same way.brian wanted to keep to the old story as well but add a little to the depths of superman.you guys remember the quote from kill bill volume 2 at the end about superman.one of the best comic philosophies I've heard.

I don't know I thought the viral vid of sector seven insecticon sighting was pretty good,looked like it was done with homemade cam quality but it also appeared as if this was how it was meant to appear.
If I was told correctly, all those videos were fan made and were just placed on the website. there were viewable from other sources before sector 7.

It's not the scary-ness of the film, it's the mostly hand-held shakiness that scares my boyfriend.

(It's a medical condition and it scares him to watch certain things for fear of triggering something regarding his medical condition.)
