Hound Character Notes -

Hound is a member of an older generation of Transformer. He fought alongside Optimus Prime during the early years of the Cybertron war, before joining an elite combat team called The Wreckers, led by an Autobot General known as Magnus.

He was sent to Earth on a reconnaissance mission. His job was to track a squad of Decepticon spies and report their movements back to Magnus, who was en route to Earth with the rest of the Wreckers to deal with the growing off-world threat. The Decepticons were attempting to influence the outcome of World War Two for their own evil purposes.

Soon after arriving on Earth, Hound mysteriously lost communication with his team, but decided to continue his mission regardless.
He tracked a group of Decepticons to a US Army base, where he took the form of a military Jeep to observe them undercover. It wasn’t long before he was discovered...by a human soldier named Sergeant James Wilde.

After convincing Sgt. Wilde that he wasn’t a Nazi war robot, the two stuck up a unique, and secret, friendship that lasted for many years. During this time, Hound joined his human companion on many missions and developed an unprecedented appreciation for Earth culture.

It was during one of these missions when tragedy struck, and Sgt. Wilde was killed in action. Hound was distraught, having lost his only friend and companion. He recovered the sergeant’s dogtags and hung them from his Jeep mode’s rear view mirror.

He continued his mission alone, until one day a fight with a Decepticon soldier left him mortally wounded. To save his own life he went into self-imposed stasis lock and reverted to his vehicle mode.

His current whereabouts are unknown.

Hound could replace Ironhide since he's a milatary vehicle. He should be a tank, to give the 'bots more Fire Power!

Let's make that "add to" instead of "replace!" since no one can replace Ironhide!

I love Hound too.. But you can not replace Hide.. Plus IMO the best ever representation of Hound was done by Encline. That was just amazing.

Holy shit, very good.

Also, to addition to that, we weren't notified who the remaining 'early' robots were (aka: when tracking Jetfire in Simmon's 'place') so this could tye in so well. Please oh please have him in TF3. That would be just awesome!

I wanna see all the old Seekers! But dang, wouldn't they all be Decepticons though? Cuz they were looking for the Matrix under the Fallen's command, right?

I posted this in a reply to someone in another forum. It's what I consider to be a defining moment in Hound's history, and serves to illustrate the potential bond that could develop between a Transformer and a human.

Hound is a soldier himself, and identifies with the human's need to fight for a righteous cause. The soldier's death affects Hound in a way he doesn't expect or understand. This feeling of loss and subsequent mourning is his first encounter with real human emotion. It is too much for him to handle and it causes him to loose hope, and the will to fight.

Some people have commented on Hound's face, and how human it looks. It has been criticized for looking too human (certainly for a Michael Bay film). The face design is supposed to reflect how human Hound has become in the time he has spent on Earth observing and interacting with it's inhabitants. It's my way of showing how easy it is to give depth to the Transformer characters.

Hound should enter the film with "Oh Yeah" by Yello playing, that would be a nice touch. Or they could use the song on a Jazz resurrection? ;)

Hound shouldn't be a tank. He's a scout and a somewhat gentle soul.

I like the way how u connect with his character i think 1 of the major reasons y transformers is so popular b cause we can all relate to them in 1 way or another and that's honestly the best part of transformers. :)

I know what you mean. It might be nice to have him start out as a WWII jeep, and then upgrade to a more modern vehicle later on.
