I'm telling you, if Optimus goes, you lose the franchise. They tried it 24 years ago, and Transformers went down...hard. Rodimus was probably the most hated of all Autobots by fans. He was a weak leader that had no idea what he was doing. Just ask Springer. I say keep Optimus, but bring they can bring in Hot Rod, and Magnus.

Cause Magnus was a better leader, and a far more superior warrior than Rodimus, which is why Optimus gave Magnus the Matrix in the first place. Rodimus needed Magnus way more than Magnus needed Rodimus. As a matter of fact Rodimus tried on one occasion to give the Matrix back to Magnus.

the Ultra Magnus toy was better maybe if alot more effort was put into the Rodimus toy it may have been a bit better but Hasbro planned to bring Optimus back before he had a chance to really prove himself Optimus had like 11 million years (i think) to get used to leading the Autobots.

And the episode you are referring to is Five faces of darkness Part 1 where Rodimus says to Ultra Magnus i cant interest you in a used mantle just after UM lectuers him about the responsibilities of the mantle of leadership

I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one. Magnus' situation was not the Autobot's darkest hour. It was Unicron about to destroy Cybertron and the entire Transformer race. When Hot Rod put the Matrix in himself, it made him more powerful, larger, and supposedly wiser, thus being able to defeat Galvy. Without it Galvy would have done the same thing to Hot Rod as he did with Magnus.

If they did go with another TF movie series with a new director and story, I'm sure they would mess it up by getting rid of Optimus or Peter Cullen as the voice actor. Transformers just isn't Transformers without Optimus Prime's leadership and Peter Cullens talented voice.

I agree with the comments .. No Optimus.. no TFs..Rodimus cant even come close.. not unless some major reformatting on his personality is made. He is probably my most hated Autobot ( and i love all Autobots except him) . Dont mind Hot Rod at all but Rodimus...he kept trying to pawn off the matrix and was happier without it. Ultra magnus..was wise and was more a mentor to HotRod...and then to Rodimus.

Blame Hasbro, not Rodimus for the way he was written, at least I am able to take an objective view on that and remember that Hasbro was the one responsible for all the characters they've ever made and how they turned out, a lot of people have to remember that the Transformers is just a pop culture property and not real and stop taking such a subjective view in regards to what characters they like and dislike. Sorry Jazzy but it had to be said, I'm tired of hearing people say the hate such and such coz he did this or that, or their personality is a certain way and they despise them for it etc. It only happened because Hasbro made/let it happen.

Nope, Galvy was chocking Hot Rod, and was going to kill him.That's when Hot Rod grabbed the Matrix that was hanging around Galvy's neck, and it opened up. Que "You've Got the Touch".

I know what you mean DA, but haven't you watched a movie, or TV show with a character you just can't stand. Yes, it was scripted like that, but it's like, I can't stand that character. That's how we feel about Rodimus.

That's true. Not a lot of thought went into the old TF cartoons, and much of it revolved around showcasing the newest toy instead of actually creating a good story. HOWEVER, as far as cartoons go, it was still very good compared to others, and the toys Hasbro brought out back then really were of a higher caliber and durability than their rivals.

Going on this idea, though, I still don't understand what Hasbro's intent was by making Rodimus so indecisive and weak. Was it so other characters weren't shadowed by him, thus ensuring a broader sale of robots? Something must've prompted Hasbro to write him so differently than they did Optimus.

I just can't see the concept of transformers without it's true leader so Optimus has to be in the next movie and other future movies if they are to be done after the 3rd it's just silly if he was not like if he indeed did die in ROFT it would have been senseless like it was in the G1 animated movie as for any other prime i do not really care who else is in it aslong as OPTIMUS PRIME is in it. :)

hot rod is no longer owned by hasbro hence why the classics hotrod is named rodimus so if hot rod is in it will be rodimus and there were way worse autobots than him
