Love it! I swear these green screen movies are becoming my favorite thing. Since Sky Captain all the way up to 300 and Casshern, it's an area that needs to be explored and get some more great film makers behind it. Can you imagine a Superman movie done in that crazy style? WOW.

I am interested a tad. They will need to play up the drama to show it isnt to cheesy. I mean that part where he finds the kid in the trunk and does that head thing makes me not want to see it.

The kid in the trunk is a bit from the cartoon man. His little brother and pet monkey always tried to stow away in the car because they want to be in a race.

Maybe Speed should put a couple more seats in the Mach 5.

Doesn't the first pic kinda remind you of an Emerald Zone from Sonic?

The action sequences though, did remind me of Spy Kids 3D. I mean you're right the look wasn't the worst of it, but still, it didn't help either.

not sure how i feel about this trailer...i've only ever liked 2 green screen movies...300 and Casshern. I'll have to wait until I can see more.

my nephew watched the trailer with me and seemed really into it.I never grew up as a speed racer fan. Iliked voltron,lol.But watching it with my nephew it looked kinda cool.I'll see it looks exciting but i'm with most not that geared up for it.

Oh yea, there is something in all guys that go for that kinda chick. I think I saw on Samantha Who it's "damaged goods" appeal. But yea that, ad the film she did about her and her 4 friends who it flash forwards to them being older. and back. Loved it. Saw it in 6th grade, so it had relevance to my emotional base back then.

Yes, but she as grow as we. There is that darker quality that she and some girls have. It's like they have the word "issues" stamped on their forehead. I thought she looked cute in monster for what it is worth. Oh, and even Prozac Nation. I dunno what it is. Piper Paribo is another. Something is just there.

I loved Speed Racer on MTV at night.It would air with Aeon Flux,Beavis and Butthead,...I think it was called lLiquid Television??I would come home so drunk and baked...I would laugh my ass off on Chim-Chim's crazy antics... *ahemn,I mean good times.I love the car.What kind is it???Seriously.:D

OK, I've watched the trailer, but I don't know much about speed racer. I vaguely remember the cartoon, but never got into it.

Is there a reason that the cars mimic gran turismo, and don't receive any damage? ....forcefields???

There's some pretty off the wall stuff in thereProbably in the same vein/logic that their cars can somersault, triple lutz and stick the landings along moutains, desert sands....:p

I think the driving along side the mountain kinda represented that the G's from the car going so fast lets it STICK to walls and objects.I dont remember them having forcefields or powers but it did have a jump button that enabled the car to jump on ski's.

as for being able to somersault through the air.I never watched the show but remember seing a clip where the botom of the car,had these two board things that would launch the car into the air...and at mach 5 you can stick to anything.:Dbut this movie looks good.

I grew up watching Speed Racer as well. Before I even knew what anime meant. I just thought it was another cartoon.

I'm not a big fan of anime, more of a casual fan, I guess you could say.

If the Wachowskis wanted to go for the full-tilt Anime experience, they just should've had the actors open and close their mouths, and then dub their own voices over the lip movement in post. :D (j/k)

Good point raddimus, believe me, I am doing all I can do to make really good films!
Just really kinda let down by the trailers for speed racer, and really bad effects, almost like somethin out of spy kids, eewww... sorry, there I go again. Overall though, I think it will sink in theaters. No more sniveling:D

I have been making films independently for about 7 years. I do professional production design, model making, fx make up, D.P. work, compositing, directing, producing, editing, basically everything you have I can do pretty fuckin well, I am learning as much as I can about EVERY aspect of film right down to marketing. It helps if your a film maker. I'm also gonna join the union in L.A. as a production designer and property master next year.

I also have won some awards for my short films in southern cali, but who hasnt.

So yeah, I guess I don't know jack raddimus. Just as much as any other film maker with years of experience.

On a funny side note, unlike most people who are film makers these days, I actually shoot on super 35 film, lol.

The neck tie thingy really didn't have to make it to the screen. One detail they could have left out.

I'm on the fence about this one. But I'm anxious to see it to find out if they really pulled off translating such a direct cartoon style to the screen.

Most of the time the result is a no...

The Matrix was so badass. Sometimes not having much of a budget will make a film better then having gobs of money at your disposal. Yeah the neckerchief (http://www.blairmag.com/blair4/lamar/neckerchief.jpg) could've stayed in the cartoon. Same here, I'm looking forward to them pulling it off. But they are also in the red with me for the last 2 Matrix sequels. The dialog looks like its gonna be just as clunky, but hopefully the visuals (ff cameras) and over the top racing sequences make up for it.

Okay, I thought this was hysterically funny when I saw it (after watching Pulp Fiction MILLIONS OF TIMES!)

Lance, the drug/crack/cocaine (whatever the heck it is) dealer is seen throughout his scenes wearing a...get this....a Speed Racer shirt.

I cracked up when I caught that. Of course my boyfriend looked at me and thought I sprouted wings or something.
