Will Ultra Magnus be in the film? I certainly hope so

On Cybertron he was originally the robot called Dion best friends with Orion Pax (Optimus Prime's original form) both were redesigned by the ancient Alpha Trion to lead the fight against the Decepticons I think this would make a great backstory for the sequal, and Magnus's arrive on earth would be most fitting to take Jazz's place as the first liuetent or should I say city commander? (only second to prime)

Nah actually someone posted it on IMDb transformers forums, so maybe Bay will come around and look at this and decide to cast him in the sequal, i'll keep my fingers crossed :D

Also since Magnus is best known as the massive car carrier truck, (he's only slightly larger than Prime himself) i'd thought maybe this would come in handy for his alternate mode, all that needs to be done is change the color to fit his primary mode on my previous post above

Could have come in handy for Bumblebee. I'm sure it was a bit painful to be towed that way. :o

Nice bit of art, Omega. But I never had much love for Ultra Magnus. He always seemed like a poor substitute for Optimus. I don't feel a need for another big truck guy. Optimus could haul away the casualties if he had to.

Was Megatron so different than Starscream in that regards in the first movie? both served as jets but entirely different (Starscream was the F22 while Megatron was the Cybertronian Jet), Ultra Magnus is a car carrier transport not a regular transport truck like Optimus, they may seem simular but they are different, so I think he will serve his purpose well, besides he's more like Optimus's brother than anything else, both were rebuilt by Alpha Trion

As much as I love Optimus, I don't think he could haul as many damaged autobots away as Ultra Magnus could, I mean without his trailer he wouldn't complish that, and since Optimus's trailer is pretty much useless during his transformation (and pointless I might add) it's only fitting that Magnus full body frame is his entire car carrier structure during his transformation which makes him abit bigger than Prime

Two different rigs I might add, that shouldn't be compaired to one another even though they do have some simularities but that's all because of their backstory together. It is speculated that Ultra Magnus may have formerly been Dion, the best friend of worker robot Orion Pax, who was himself rebuilt into Optimus Prime by the ancient Autobot, Alpha Trion. Their apparent longstanding relationship, the similarity of Prime to Magnus's inner robot as well as their alternate (earth) forms, Alpha Trion's new names for his creations- Orion Pax to Optimus Prime, Ariel to Elita One, Dion to Ultra Magnus- and their personality "enhancements" (Orion Pax and Ariel are transformed from innocent "teenagers" to noble leaders,) and finally his rank of City Commander as well as his being chosen the new Autobot leader and carrier of the Matrix by Prime.

Not entirely As a nod to their origins in Generation 1, it was stated in the new animated series (Robots in Disguise) that Ultra Magnus and Optimus Prime(were created at the same time by Alpha Trion, but when Prime was chosen to carry the Matrix, Magnus felt passed over, and was left carrying a grudge against his brother. That grudge eventually exploded into violence when he arrived on Earth with the intention of taking what he believed was rightfully his - by force, if necessary. Before meeting up with Optimus, Magnus fought and easily defeated the Decepticons on his own, When he met Optimus, he offered Magnus a chance to join him, but Magnus outright refused and attacked him. Severely injuring Prime, who refused to fight back, Magnus tracked him to a desert island, where he pretended to offer him the hand of friendship, only to attempt to absorb the Matrix for himself, forcing the brothers into the combined form of Omega Prime, Through this link, Magnus was also able to channel the power of the Matrix, which he used to supercharge the Autobot Brothers into newly-coloured forms. Although Magnus remained a free agent, refusing to take orders from his brother, his animosity dwindled and he frequently helped the Autobots by combining with Prime to battle the Predacons and Decepticons. As Omega Prime, they faced Galvatron together at the Earth's core and successfully defeated him once and for all.

If you're going to have another Autobot competing for leadership, I say bring in the old school comics verison of Grimlock (who was not a moron like in the cartoon). Grimlock was a badass warrior who hated Optimus for being a philosophical pansy in the middle of a civil war. He's the man to stir up dissent.

old school comics or not everyone is gonna expect Grimlock to come as his generation 1 alter ego, the dinobot t-rex who had a had a small attention span, causing havoc and destruction for all the autobots, believe me the autobots don't need anymore trouble as it already is with the Decepticons, cleaning up their own mess is more than enough, by far one of Wheeljacks worst inventions :D
