View Full Version : Score Bashing Looser.
I stopped reading after a while.
Is it just me, or is filmtracks.com have some of the worst
reviews out there? Also, review the score, I couldn't give two shits
what you think of the film. This guy is a hack.
Read This:
http://www.filmtracks.com/titles/transformers.html
This guy will just never get it!
Can you imagine Vince DeCola's score in the new film???
It's fun to listen to, with your windows rolled up.
The crowd would have been laughing, and not in a good way.
These guys just need to quit with the bashing.
Damn I'm having a bad day. :mad::mad::mad:

The score to the Transformers (2007) movie is GREAT!!!!!!!!
I can listen to the 20 tracks over and over, and never get bored of it. I listen to this CD every day since I got it delivered earlier this month.
My most favorite track to listen to would have to be the Autobot themes(1, 6, 7, 12, 16) , The All Spark, and Track 20.
I also like all of the others, but those are my favorite.
I hope Steve Jablonsky does the Score for the Transformers 2.
Also I hope they release the rumored 2CD Set with at least 15-20 more/different tracks, also some bonus track and features like movie sound effects like explosions, gun fire, transforming sound, etc... and the narration/story telling of Optimus Prime that was in the movie voiced by Peter Cullen.

Thanks for the comments of my SEMA vid. Plenty of BumbleBee in it.

He did write "You can sum up Jablonsky's work here by making the following two conditional statements: if this score had been written for a Transformers film in 1996 and if the franchise had never existed before on television or the big screen, then this would easily be a four-star score." which is fair enough. Like the score or not, but it is strongly inspired på every Hans Zimmer soundtrack that came before it. However, I don't understand how he can defend the score for the cartoon movie and claim Jablonsky should have paid more respect to it. What a bunch a horseshit. I find it funny that he critizises how Jablonsky steals this bit from here and that bit from there, and fails to mention that Vince DiCola basically re-used the whole score from his own Rocky IV.

Yeah, I don't disagree with some of his observation/opinions of the actual score. (ok he didn't like it, big effing deal. ok, Jablonsky takes from his former mentor, *shrugs* he tends to get like that sometimes *shrugs* )
But like a lot of pompous critics, he starts to enjoy his own writing rather than just sticking to the review at hand (in this case the score itself). He also has a slight hint of a G-1 fanboy that might have grown up to study music, by the way he defends DiCola's score and how it stayed familiar with the show. Incidentally, what does Megatron not being a gun have to do with the Score? Or GM's involvement?
Thus he veers off into condescening territory when he starts to throw in jabs about other aspects of the movie. So now he thinks he's both a critic of the film and the score. The wrath of intelligent listeners..... pshh. Then next words I was expecting out of this guy's mouth were stuff like Mythos, or "the real fanbase". Stick to the music next time.
Ostinato? More like Ostententatious....
P.S. I don't own the score, nor did I petition to get it released. It's in the film and that's enough for me. So you can't charge me with being too overly biased.

Same here! I listen to this score all the time and never get bored of it. It blows me out of the water every time I listen to it.
The expanded score is also really great.
As for the 2CD set....I wish it would be released too, but as of right now, it really hasn't been set. Maybe later.

The score to the transformers cartoon and original movie reminded me of the scores to those old classic christmas cartoons. I suppose the reviewer wanted Optimus to seem like Frosty the Snowman. That's one direction I suppose they could have taken the movie in. Seems like it would be a mistake though.
