Holy crap...go see this in 3D if you can. This is the true way to experience this movie. Think of the 3D Spiderman ride, or the 3D Back to the Future ride, or the 3D Terminator show, or the Muppet's 4D show.....except make it 2 hours long.

So awesome in 3D.

I'd equate the action as "god of war" inspired.

The animation and realism in some scenes were jaw dropping. There will be some spots where you roll your eyes, but Beowulf in the poem was set as this ridiculous guy so keep that in mind.

The movie itself was pretty damn good, no master piece, but good. If i remember the poem correctly they did change some things.

The acting was top notch.

And the movie was fucking bloody and graphic for a PG-13 film. I can only assume they got away with so much because it was animated.

Anyways, don't pass this up in 3D. It was my first 3D IMAX experience and WOW!

P.S.

Beowulf vs the dragon is the coolest man vs dragon battle....ever on film.

and dont go in to hyped, some of my friends left slightly disappointed cause as thry put it "set their expectation way to high cause of the hype"

this movie wont even make budget man. why people insist on getting celebs for comp generated movies is beyond me. Like you really needed angelina jolie in this movie

I'm torn about seeing it, I love Neil Gaiman's writing so I know his adaptation will be cool ... the animation makes me not wanna see it.

dude it doesn't matter one way or the other....and considering this is the first adult animated film in america it was a good idea to get a face actors to put in CG. The teenage crowd sees a half naked Angelina Jolie, and you bet your ass they are there.

This was one freaking great film. There are things in the film that aren't in the poem, but it's well worth it. Jolie wasn't needed, but damn I'm glad she was there. I guarantee ya it'll make it's budget. How they got a PG-13 rating is beyond me with the nudity of Jolie's char and the blood, but gotta see it!

Two words: Sexual Appeal.

I wasn't going to waste my time on the movie... or money (for once). Computer generated is an interesting concept but I'm really into live action. Hence why I'm a Michael Bay fan. :D

Let's see. Only reason I would go to that movie is to see the Cloverfield preview . That's gonna be a good movie. JJ Abrams rocks (but not as much as Michael).

I don't think I could've seen this at the movies in 2-D. I caught it in IMAX 3-D (which is what I think is this movie's strongest selling point. For some the novely of it might wear off sooner than others). Fun movie, thin on plot, but not bad considering that it originated from the old poem. On the negative side, the cg was inconsistent at times. Otherwise, the environments were pretty cool. Beowulf vs. Golden Dragon was notably bad @$$. It felt like a 2-hr ride.

My dad really wants to see this, so I agreed to see it too. Read the poem in high school, thought it was pretty good.

I LOVE Neil Gaiman's writing. I met him at a convention I went to and he's good friends with my aunt. He's a very nice guy.

Anywhoos, the new theater here in my town has a couple of screens capable of showing movies in 3-D, so I'm tied between going to Nashville and seeing it on IMAX 3-D orrrr seeing it on the regular screen in 3-D......:o

i am with you on the dragon part but man this movie was boring. Square did better than this movie visual in 2001 and with the matrix animated. I got no emotion at all from these characters. it would have been better to just go live action with this. probably would have been a lot better with the actors they had involved

I totally agree with you. I saw it in 3-D today and it was great!!!

I cannot even imagine it in IMAX 3-D. At first, I thought it looked too much like Shrek, but it got better as it went along.

They need a lot of work on the horses though. They seemed too stiff and not as good as the humans.

I'm still amazed at the work that Square put into those movies. Although I got a little bored with Sprits Within, the fact that the characters were mostly generated from scratch (read: faces that didn't exist in real life) was what I liked. It still remains a movie that is cool to look at. The Thriller easter egg still cracks me up. Maybe if they concentrated more on shorts like the one in Animatrix early on, their fledgling film dept. wouldn't have gone under financially.

Or who knows, maybe they'll find new legs because of this movie, and better story choices.

With Beowulf, I think the reason I didn't get as bored was because of the 3D. If I had seen it in 2D, I would've been a little annoyed. Although I could've done without naked Beowulf either way.

Square picked the wrong kind of movie to make. They should have made a fantasy movie not a sci fi movie with ghost aliens that anyone could have made for like 5 million dollars with real actors.
