ok we don't know that yet but it has just been announced the Andrezj Bartkowiak, the mastermind behind the hip hop kung fu genre with movies like Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds and Cradle 2 The Grave wants to do another injustice to another video game franchise after Doom.

So he will be directing the Chun Li lead Street Fighter movie with kung fu fight scenes filmed in MTV style with close ups, shaky camera, and choppy editting.

They call him an "action specialist".

If that is the case, then Uwe Boll is an action god.

...he hasn't ruined it yet.

When he casts DMX as Dhalsim.....it'll be official.

"That's just what I do....ARF!!...ARF!!" :D

What did you expect? The first time around wasn't example enough why these movies shouldn't be made? The Super Mario Bros. and Fischer Stevens seemed to have gotten that memo. (j/k)

Seriously, the first SF was so bad that I think the instructions on the DVD case read: Open case, Insert Disc directly into garbage, Proceed to punch self for buying it.

Too many random characters, wtf storyline, etc... At that point, an overhaul of the SF franchise to something coherent would be SF no more, pissing off the die hards (as usual).

Mortal Kombat (1995) came close and is "not that bad". But that's not saying much.

Don't get me wrong, fighting games were my bread & butter growing up. (as opposed to RPGs, I hate those) But I had/have no illusions of how those were instant gratification games that don't have enough steam to translate well to film. So the hiring of Andrzej doesn't surprise me in the least.

I don't know he might do a good job. I don't like Chun-Li being the antagonist but the lone wandering warrior thing has been done to death in fighting movies. Revenge is a good point to a plot and thats what Chun-Li's all about, at least in the early days of SF. There was to much military stuff in the first one to be called Street Fighter. I own the movie ($5) and I watch it every now and then because its so goofy its entertaining.

Actually I liked Mortal Kombat and thought it was the best video game adaptation at the time but then I just recently bought it for $5 at Walmart and re-watched it..........it was kinda weird because I don't remember it being that crappy. But then again, I was only 14 at the time LOL!

Oh well, I'm looking forward to it, just don't like the choice of director.

Street Fighter the game was a classic, even I know that and I did not play it too much. As a movie ? HELL NO !
A sequel ? or re-telling of the first ? Another BAD idea by hollyweird!

are you kidding me? Street Fighter practically pioneered the ENTIRE fighting game genre and spawned several game sequels and numerous spin-offs.

People are still playing street figther now regardless of how old it is

Maybe this movie will coincide with the release of Street Fighter 4. Most gamers want a 2-d fighter now and Capcom has said tid bits about SF4 for about a year now. I remember them saying "we still have it in our production list" early this year sometime. Another bit was that Ryu and Ken are now old and they will be the only fighters returning. Last I heard was that Capcom sold the rights to an undisclosed company and its secretly being made for next-gen systems(360&ps3). It was old news but I'm sure a developer would not let the series just die off with such a fan base. The SF fan base is just as big as the TF one. It will happen one day, Capcom will count to 4.

Street Fighter for my buds and I is a viable franchise even now. We still have the traditional SF battles after done watching whatever football game we are done with.

That being said, SF with Chun Li being the focus? That's nutz, isnt it about Ken and Ryu's journey around the world. Oh well, they we described how it'll be filmed is enough to turn me off.

I think someone could make this movie really good. Like Michael Bay for instance. he could do it just like 300. Or James Camron he could make it look like TR (Terminator). I realy don't know directors. I just know I like a good movie with lots of loud cool sounds, good music, good actors, and great visual FX.

If Boll is an action God then Paul W.S. Anderson MUST be the anti-christ... damn that man needs to stop making films.

BTW... Don't even get me started on AVP:II which should be entitled beating a dead horse OR eating our own feces... I never saw the first but MK was a decent film.
