I loved the movie and I really appreciated the little nods to the cartoon etc... and I am well aware that General Motors was a huge sponsor for this film. That being said, a Pontiac Solstice is a far cry from a Porsche 935 (yes Michael, it's 911 BASED) . As much as I have no desire to see a Porsche being killed off as a character so immediately, i'd rather it was in the movie in the first place.
The little nod to Porsche when Sam and his father drove through the dealership lot was amusing and put a big smile on my face but it was largely due to the fact that I was just sure we had a Porsche coming up for a character.
That's okay, we can't have everything. I do realize you're on a budget.
I agree with the decision not to make Bumblebee a Volkswagen Beetle (new or old) even though i'm a Porsche & Volkswagen fanatic (can you tell?) because it just wouldn't have translated as well into a "realistic film". Anybody who's ever had a Bug can tell you that there just isn't that much metal or mass to them and they're not really tough looking unless heavily modified (hmmm).
Anyway, I digress.... and this can sound and be as pretentious as you'd like to take it.
As someone who grew up in and around exotic and fast cars of all kinds of different makes and models and a current and enthusiastic owner of multiple Porsche cars....... and we all need to be corrected at some point or another..
Will somebody PLEASE tell Michael Bay that PORSCHE is a two syllable word.
It works for the movie when pops says "porsh" because he's kinda goofy and he drives a british car but I expect more from the mouth of Mr. Bay during the commentary.
P.S. I used to have a tuned 1956 bug(on street tires) that blew the effing doors off of Camaros and what all else anytime I put the loud pedal down.
So I was a little bummed but I still think it's a great movie. There's always the sequel.
