The Gazette (http://www.canada.com/montrealgazette/news/arts/story.html?id=5d8321ec-4d55-40bd-ae6c-742949303ea9) has posted unconfirmed news on the Dragon Ball Z movie at 20th Century Fox:
The 20th Century Fox studio is expected to shoot three big-budget movies in Montreal over the next year; each has a budget of at least $100 million. The films are the Night at the Museum sequel Another Night, Independence Day director Roland Emmerich's remake of the sci-fi flick Fantastic Voyage and a big-screen adaptation of the Japanese manga Dragonball Z.
Dragonball Z is adapted from the manga created by Akira Toriyama; the work was also turned into a Japanese anime series that played all over the world. It tells the story of an alien sent to destroy Earth, who has a change of heart and decides to join the humans in their fight against various aliens and bad guys.
There are no details yet as to when these three shoots will begin, but they are expected to wrap production by next July.
Stay tuned for possible confirmation of this.

never cared for dragon ball z....the action was awesome, but i never really got into it. there is room for amazing action sequences, so they better not fuck it up....this movie has been in pre-production for like a freakin decade now

Never liked that show, except when really really stoned. Not much story to speak of and way too much powers rather than real fighting. It'll be great to see in live action though, I'll watch it, I won't like it but I'll watch it.

Good God, bury that film, Bury DBZ, and further more just because something is suffessful as a cartoon doesn't mean you should bring every anime to the big screen.

Superman Returns... Should have been made 20 years ago
and called Superman II
and last but not least...

I'm abit of a DBZ freak - have the series/movies/original DB series and other items I won't mention :p - but a live action I'm not sure about - doesn't sit well with me.
Does anyone remember the bad live action that was made about a decade ago? It was dubbed into English and so very bad, my memory has blocked out most of it, so I can't remember to comment on it.. other than it was bad.

I read about it on Wikipedia, it sounds like it's based on the old Dragonball cartoon. I think that would make more sense, there was less screaming in that cartoon as opposed to Z.

April 3, 2009. They did the same thing with the new Star Trek movie., we won't be seeing that till May, 8.

Yeah, I saw the blurb about the Star Trek movie being delayed.
WHY?!? *cries* I have NEVER seen a Star Trek film on the big screen.....and for them to delay it like this? WTF?
I was thrilled when Star Wars (original trilogy) came to the big screen. Ohhh yes.....that was awesome.
