What CG effect in the film looked the most real.

I'm going to have to go with the very short exchange between starscream and megatron after megatron breaks free.

The work put in this movie was insane, It would be too hard to compare which one looked the best the most real, I'd rather nit-pick which shot looked the least real, which in my opinion was a 4-5 second shot of Ratchet and Ironhide shooting down a street while Sam is running towards the forground with the cube, the lighting was a bit off, I mean, you really have to be looking for things like this to catch them, you can barely notice.

in the last scenes when starscream came down and landed and made all the cars fly up, u can see sam hiding in amongst the cars if u look nearly getting splattered, i think that part was impressive

The CG in this film is unbelievable - I was sceptical at first at how they would make the robots look (remembering the cartoon) but after watching the movie I was totally blown away. I think every scene with the robots in them is fantastic, I really loved the Optimus transforming on the highway scene - when the shot was of him going under the bridge then both his wheels separated out, as he transformed - totally awesome! Or when Ironhide was dodging missiles, used both guns to blast upward and jump over the girl - another fav scene.

Bumblebee is my fav character, so any scene with him... thou one scene while Bumblebee was shrinking the cube looked about the fakest I noticed. Okay, I tend to rant about this movie as it impressed me so much, so I will leave it at that.

I can't say what looked most real or what didn't. Every scene was incredible, every frame, every detail. Amazing.

The far back shot of Jazz and Ratchet during the "Get back! It's Megatron!" line.

Pick your shot, really. For me always, Prime atop the hill at the end. I love it more for the crisp detail than for what he's actually saying. Or the close ups of his head in the backyard scene. The effort of everyone involved that went into recreating how reflections/paint finishes react to light, etc. was clearly evident. Awesome.

I think the robots talking amongst each other under the afternoon sun was the best (in the back of the observatory).

I really to hard or nearly impossible to compare what's real as there is nothing on par with this movie.

Michael Bay raised the bar with Pearl Harbor. And now he once again outdid himself with Transformers.

There's always gotta be a guy in the industry that is the best at what they do and Transformers is clearly an example of that.

The CG cannot look any better than that. Michael Bay and ILM nailed it.:D

Thinking about it, I reckon one of the best scenes is the interchange between Sam and Bumblebee - during the final battle when Bumblebee hands Sam the cube after Sam says 'I'm not going to leave you'.

In particular when Bumblebee's eyes blink and focus (you can only see his left eye) as he gives Sam the cube - he looks so real.

I really am in awe of what everyone did and went through to create these guys - an absolutely stunning job.

The best? Have to rewatch as soon as my DVD gets here.
There are two "bad" ones though...
The one where Optimus Prime is on the same height as Shia. You see Shia isn't actually looking at him (ok, thats not cgi, just bad greenscreen/acting/lighting/whatever). Very unfortunate it looks that unreal.
And the scene at the observatory looked fake too somehow (can't explain really why, but the robots just looked out of place). Other than that, yeah, the best cgi integration so far.

i think that what you thought is that in that observatory scene, it looked so real that it looked fake or that it looked unreal (if that makes any sense). Because it looked too real that we can't really picture it in real life. Thats why I felt that alot of the night scenes made the TFs look even more real than in the day shots. That observatory scene was particularly bright because the sun was right on them and when we really think about it, we just can't imagine what a robot would look like in real life because it is fictional. So our brain tells us, naaaww that can't be real.

Lighting and good lighting was is what makes us tell the difference between good and bad cgi.

Pearl Harbor worked because they're planes and planes are real.

TFs are a little bit harder to imagine but if you are really sucked into the story, it doesn't let the fact that giant fucking robots are in the same scene as live action humans take away from your movie viewing enjoyment.

The CG, in my opinion looked flawless. It couldn't be better, because they already raised the bar. The only way they can outdo it is TF2.

If you look at movies like King Kong and Matrix, although it looks real, you know its fake or even like a video game but if we are immersed into the movie/story enough, it doesn't let a bit of fake or hyper-realistic CG take you away from the story.

I tried hard to enjoy the final scene with the Scorpion King in Mummy Returns. In the end, I was in denial beacuse the The Rock as The Scorpion King looked fake as hell.

Yea the colors between where Shia was running and the robo background was off a bit. But you have to be REALLY looking at it or be a big film buff to pick about it.

Some of the cleanest CG shots were during the Scorponok sequence. Looks like there was a model switched for CG, but if there was not a model wow! Perfect. When he pulls his mask on and off out of anger. Kewl work...

The scene that looked the most real to me, was when Prime was at the bedroom window talking to Sam. The detail was Amazing.

good point. could be true.
and although it clearly has the best cgi so far, you still can't really compare it to "living" creatures like an ape and stuff which obviously are much harder to do real (but i think everyone knows that). but yeah, so far every single movie which has big parts of cgi still looks fake, transformers was the first one which didn't.
nothing compared to "models" like in jurassic park though ;) (still the best effects ever in movie history)

I would have to agree that the best scene by far was the close ups of Megs(to starscream) and Optimus(to sam) when they were talking.

Worst scenes: Optimus pulls into alley for first time and transforms. Worst lighting of all and he looks like a toy as he start to transform. Then when he's against the house hiding from the parents, again looks like some one put him there in that position as a toy. Also points stated above in other post.

They're really aren't many there but if your into cg you can spot them. It doesn't matter the movie or how much work goes into it. If its not a full cgi movie you can spot the mistakes. It just happens.

I can't say what looked most real or what didn't. Every scene was incredible, every frame, every detail. Amazing. I can't really pick either, it was all so amazing. I guess the daylight shots should be given more credit as I was under the impression they were harder to do.
