I agree with not killing any of the Autobots off in the movie, I was horrified to see Jazz ripped in two and then hearing Ironhide say they couldn't save him (I was mortified about how many Autobots they killed off in the animated movie and I only realised that once I watched the movie only a few months ago as an adult... I live a sheltered life)

But as far as the movie goes, I guess the writers had to kill one Autobot off seeing there where many Decepticons being killed and looking at each Autobot character and the position they hold, they made their least intrusive decision. (Optimus - leader, Ironhide - weapons expert, Ratchet - medic, Bumblebee - guardian) While Jazz was Optimus' lieutenant, his death had the least impact on the Autobot group I guess... but I have a strong belief that Jazz will return (I'm hoping very much) for the next movie.

But supras, which other character is less known from the movie? All the other Autobots featured are also G1, so who would you have picked? Just curious that's all.

I think it's terrific to have a 2nd TF movie, just have no Autobots die... or known Autobots, like make up a character separate to be killed off lol! Optimus won't die in the movie, Hasbro had already said that was the biggest mistake they ever did (can't remember where I read that though, sorry. If I find it, I will post link) and I don't think they would do that again... I hope.

Let his death mean something, like for example if he does alot of damage to a combiner and then appears that it is winning the fight but then later gets taken out by him and leaves the audience shocked.

Okay I have been a slacker and haven't read the so-called 'leaked' script for TF2 so didn't know about the whole matrix in Optimus' chest giving TF their souls. The piece of the cube that Optimus takes from Megatron's chest that you refer to.. didn't Optimus take it out of Megatron to crush it in his hand? :confused: That was my interpretation of that scene anyway, but you have raised some really good points there - something to think about anyways.

Yea, but if you take into consideration he calls Megatron "brother" then it makes sense that he is actually torn at what he was forced into doing. (Destroying his own brother)

In the cartoons both Optimus and Megatron/Galvatron have huge respect for each other. I believe the Transformers Armada cartoons mentions it a lot, in the last battle between Optimus and Galvatron after batteling Unicron.
I really liked the brother part in the movie, it showed that allthough the autobots saved the humans, they were sad that they had to fight and kill there own race...

One, take a deep breath. Two, reread what you write before you type and use that wonderful edit button in extreme cases. Calm down, put one foot in front of the other. Walk before you run. Slang is one thing, but butchering the English language is something entirely different, my friend.

Also, the first movie leaves a lot of things open for the sequel. Whether its a tale of revenge, or Starscream attempting to take over the Decepticons (we still have Barricade in fine working condition on Earth, Skorpinok is slightly banged up in the Middle East, etc). Who is to say there aren't more transformers already on Earth? Some people might not like it, but there's always the possibility that Maximals and Predicons could be brought up here -even though many purists would flip out - with something like an underwater predicon catching Megatron before he hits the abyss, like Rampage or something.

I for one hope they raise the stakes, and have more transformers enter the game, and more than one sacrifice themselves. All great wars have heroes who have their lives claimed for the greater good. Maybe even have the Decepticons win or gain the advantage, similar to Episode 5, in order to set up the trilogy's ending. Dinobots were teased about in the Sector 7 video (thankfully this group was dismantled in the first movie, as it was unnecessary clutter), so that's a possibility as well. We always have the possibility of Unicron, too, although that would probably be reserved for the finale as opposed to a sequel. I always thought a tale about a traitor in the Autobots would make for a good story, maybe dealing with someone not being satisfied with their role in the Autobot hierarchy and the Decepticons promising Lieutenant to him/her, whatever. I'm sure we'll see a 'female' bot of some sort too.

And yes I am just throwing things out there right now...

I just hope in TF2 we get more backgrond info on the rebooted transformers. I want it to be about an hour longer less humans more robots fighting. Also I think optimus prime and megatron should both die near the end. As unicron appears and threatens to kill his mortal enemies. Then in TF3 Optimus prime is reborn as optimual optimus and Megatron comes in finally as galvatron. The 2 unite to fight unicron but in the end they have one awsome battle.

I dont think Optimus will die but it would make for great dramatics if he was hurt so bad that he is on the verge of death. I dont think I would like to see Ironhide get killed but Ratchet would be ok i guess. Red Alert could always come and take his place. BB already had his near death incounter so I dont think he will die. And I think Jazz will make a comeback. If not a lot of people are going to be really upset. But you never know!!! I do see the Desepticons coming back and giving to the Autobot what they got in the first movie, so to all the Autobot fans out there just be ready, just in case, cause I do really think more then one Autobot is going to die this time around. Its the Desepticons time to shine!!!!!!!

Some watch a movie a few times, some tweny times. Some people even become obsessed and watch on a regular basis.

I've watched the movie maybe ten times now. I listen to the soundtrack every day in the car. This film means a lot to me. The transformers aren't just CGI. They were brought to life brilliantly by the team behind the scenes IMO.

Killing off an autobot is a huge deal to me. :( Especially if it's Optimus. :(

Look I think this is getting blown out of proportion here. For the storyline to have a solid backstory some characters get killed off in earlier films. Jazz may well come back but as a completly different car as he autobots do have his old body to work with. Who knows his main CPU may still be intact and Ratchet might be able to reboot him. Megatron was dropped in the sea and I highly doubt he will return in tf2. Starscream returned to cybertron during the closing credits of tf1 and will more than likely rally the decepticons back to earth.

The posibilites are endless, soundwave could be the new leader of the decepticons even though starscream is second in command in the cartoon, Bay may decide to rewrite soundwave as the new leader. He is much more menacing than starscream.

Take it from me people, it's not worth arguing over until you know what is actually going to happen first and if Bay is smart he will make you all wait until the last moment.

Ya your right. And besides just as in TF1 Bay said he took a lot of what people said on the net and on his forms into account and used some of what people wanted in the movie. So I say discuss till your heart is content about what you want and dont want to see because im sure Bay is reading a lot of what we say anyway to get feedback on what we do and dont want to see. Fans are always going to be sad about autobots dying [The Return Of Optimus Prime anyone?] But look how many decepticons got killed, It seems fair that a few autobots should fall off too. Even though when I saw it I Immediatley thought they always kill the black characters first, But I guess whether Ironhide or Jazz is the black one is a whole nother thread.

Maybe its an homage to the fact that Scatman Crothers is dead.

i'm not that sure about having soundwave as a leader, i mean all he really used to do was take orders from megatron, does he have it in him to make choices for other people? Megatron has to come back so he can have his most loyal decepticon soundwave by his side

Well as I said Bay may rewrite soundwave as the new leader. Starscream wasn't manacing enough in the first film. Soundwave's character could be developed past his cartoon counterpart and given full power of the decepticons with starscream harbouring resentment because he wasn't given the mantle of leadership. The possibilities are endless. I suppose we will just have to wait and see.

Starscream will lead an all-out invasion on earth:(, and Optimus will either die or be critically injured:mad:. But he will come back in the third movie:o.

Also, the book The Transformers: Starscream's Reign is coming out in November. From what I've read, it takes place Immediatly after the first movie. Kind of like a prequel to the sequel after the original. I found it on the chapters website.;) It hould give us a clue as to what will happen in the sequel.

1. Killing off Optimus Prime - they did that in the cartoon movie, causing mental trauma for tons of 80s kids (I know, I was fragging one of them). This is so overdone that I've every faith in Bay and Co. not to rehash that. I can live with the almost killing him, only to bring him back in the third movie although again, cheesy rehash. Killing off Optimus Prime has already gone up to the level of "been there, done that, spun the cotton for the t-shirt and worn it until it can stand on its own." So - NO.

2. Killing off Bumblebee - Again, GOD, no. His friendship with Shia is the centerpiece of the movie and this will cause new trauma for the tons of little kids who've just been introduced to Transformers (plus one fuzzy blue alien) who like the little yellow 'bot.

3. Killing off Ironhide & Ratchet - Like Jazz wasn't bad enough?

totally agree with you and the whole killing off of characters thing, i'd be devastated if optimus died, and i'd be quite po'd at bay and the writers, when jazz died i was like aww come on not jazz hes like original g1 stuff, why not somebody less known lol.

Like I said TF2 would probably end with a Optimus Prime cliffhanger - will he live or not. Bay would be absolutely nuts not to do it, it would utmost guarantee sharp audience for TF3 kind of like Star Wars:Empire Strikes Back, thats why i said that allspark piece would have to have something to do with resurrecting him

Bay did the right thing by doing that. You can't just have all the autobots survive through every battle, eventually one or even two have to get killed. They are at war, dude. Stuff like that is bound to happen. During times of war, even the good guys fall in battle.

Not necessarily retarded. After all they killed Megatron in the first movie. If anything .. THAT was retarded. With the sense of Megatron gone after the first movie, most people would look at this like.. "How can there be any other movies now when theres no more Megatron???" But they are still coming out with a second one. So even if Prime gets killed in the 2nd one, there most likely would be a 3rd one (If Bay so decides to do it, and as long as Lucas doesn't get his filthy sticky hands on it all). Never say its NOT going to happen. Anything can happen.

If prime does end up dieing I would like to have it how he orginally died in the 80's movie kind of style (yeah some what die hard G1 fan) it be better then him just killing over.
