Just curious, I think he is hard core retarded! Literally! I noticed in the movie last night, havent watched it in a few months, every time Meg's is in a scene and shows up he yells, MEGATROOOONNNN!!!! FUCKIN RETARDEDDDDDD!!!

That's stupid, I post this thread, basically, cause Megs just seems like this big stupid bully, he really shoulda been more intellectual, and yes violent, but Bay made him a fuckin retarded idiot. Whats up with that? Not trying to pick a fight or talk crap, but just sayin he coulda had more soul behind him (and brains) then him being, well, stupid, literally dumb in the head. Dumb fuckin move imho. And I believe he was supposed to always have been like that, not due to being frozen, it seems that's just his, not heartless, but mindless character design. Any thoughts?

Not a retard, just totally insane. Megatron's lust for power and obsession with getting the allspark has made him a complete monster. I'm sure before he betrayed Optimus he was a great leader/hero during his time. But his desire for power transformed him into a savage.

Trailbreaker, good reply, but I don't buy that for one second. Though a good response, makes no sense for me. I understand how lust greed and power can make you a monster, Darth Vader is a prime example, but he dont show up in every scene, let alone any scene, saying, Darth Vadeerrrrrr Hereeee!!!!

Megs is more then a monster, he's actually stupid and dumb. Corruption doesnt make you stupid, it makes you do stupid things, where megs, well, he's...:wtf

Lemme add to that, desire for power can have different effects on certain individuals. In Vader's case, he's smart with it, he keeps his mouth shut most of the time. Because he is so powerful, all he has to do is kill you and get it over with. Megatron, however, let it consume his mind (and intelligence), making him a total freak.

Megatron is like Macbeth. He became powerful and lost his freakin mind. He saw ghosts for crying out loud.

Another thing to consider is that these guys are aliens. They don't think 100% like us. They're way of expressing insanity may be different from a human's. So Megatron screaming "MEGATRON!!!" all of the live long day may be considered "retarded" to a human, but for Cybertronians they may see this differently.

Maybe he was sick and tired of being called NBE-1. :p

Joking aside. Yeah, in that moment he sounded more like Galvatron than Megatron. I hope he will have more time to speak in the sequels.

You'd be a little slow too if you were frozen for that long. Maybe he was reminding himself who he was.

Maybe he was reminding himself who he was. well all i know is if he was this slow to start with and already having great power God help us if he returnes all super powerd from the Allsparks energy. All I know is that when I first wake up, I'm lucky if I can remember to walk straight. Maybe he was just having a little trouble with his CPU.

Megatron=worst leader ever
The only time he was worth a damn and great to watch was in Beast Wars/Machines. I do like his overall presence in the movie, but I do agree EF he was kinda stupid. Then again if you are insane I guess you are stupid...LOL

I think Megatron over the years drove himself insane over his wanting the power of the Allspark and put together with his great smarts and wisdom... well... lets just say being insane and smart at the same time is not good at all. These types of mindsets are the kind that start world wars, kill on mass levels, dismember bodies just out of pure pleasure...(Jazz) LMAO!!! Sorry!!!, and well want to rule over all. Hmmmm!! Sure sounds like Megs to me. LOL As well as quite a few of our true to life world leaders and well known masterminds.

Ummm....maybe they chose to have him say his name when onscreen to let the Transformer newbies know who he is.Think about it,if your a younger child who is seeing anything transformers for the first time or only has enough exposure to know the names, then keeping up with who everyone is could be kinda hard.Especially since him and Starscream favor a little with all that action going on at the end of the movie.

elemental fantasy
06-29-2008, 05:14 PM
^^^ Wordski, I VERY highly doubt that's the case at all. Kids recognize him, and that would be the worst reason for him to say his name so people watching the movie know who he is.

I suppose nobody knows WHY he says it except the writers and Bay. But if it's not gonna be covered at all, then it really is just silly.

As I for mention, I highly doubt it's due to him being frozen, (though it's not too bad when he first wakes up, but 5 times after that.....) after all, EVERYTHING else on him seemed to work perfectly fine, but him saying his name EVERY chance he gets, crazy. However stupid I think that it may be, I think I'll start to do that, walk into my house and just yell:
CASSIDDDYYYYYY!!!! lol

I would say a combination of a screwy head, probably bad childhood:D, as well, I think he does do it very dileberatly. Perhaps as a representation of raw power. ? ... Either way, he is somewhat very retarded, or, mentally and emotionally unbalanced. I just really think they could have givin him more smart evil then:

"Me big, me smash you, me MEGATRONNNNN!!!"

Cmon, what, is he that one retarded dino bot? Grimlock, or is he Megs, BAD ASS LEADER!!! I just wish he had been a bit more, well, not stupid.

Nelson, can you enlighten us with knowledge upon the situation?

Like I said before, Cybertronians are aliens, they don't think like us, we will never fully decipher what goes on in their heads. Perhaps proudly declaring their names is a Cybertronian way of saying "I'm awesome and badass." I'm sure we may learn more in Revenge of the Fallen.

Trailbreaker, your raising some really good points!
But isnt all the other TF's from the same place? So.... Especially Starscream....

And imo, I wouldnt count on TF2 answering this Q?Q, and dont call it revenge just yet, it's not official as far as I know, it was just a test, it failed on Mikes boards, these boards, so they took it down from the homepage.

But yeah, you reminded me, they are not human, they are:

"Far more advanced then us!" ---(line from TF)

So... wouldn't that mean that all those issues that us humans have, well, it just seems logical that they would kinda get past all of our issues, or at least most of em, especially considering there machines. As well considering that we only use 3% of our brain, but wouldn't our problems bypass there superior intelligence? Like Megs, dur dur duRRRRR...?

Trailbreaker
06-29-2008, 09:55 PM
They may be all from the same place but that doesn't make them all consistant. Starscream could have completely different programing than Megatron, plus, given that his is not an insane maniac like Megs, he probably wouldn't scream "STARSCREAM!!!" all of the time. There is no telling what goes on in Starscream's head as well.

"far more advanced then us", the guy said that line meant technologically, not psychologically. We may be able to judge the physical advanceness of these guys, but their mental sentience is something beyond our understanding. We haven't fully found out what's the deal with our brains.

What I find so silly about this is that we are getting into these huge discussions just because Megatron said his name retardedly ONCE in the whole freakin' movie. I wouldn't count the "I am Megatron" because he is correcting the people that called him NBE 1 for so many years (or it could just be because it sounds badass :D). And the second time you hear when Sam is running up the building, he actually called Sam "MAGGOT!" according to the subtitles. Seriously, I find the big argument about Megatron's retardedness more retarded than Megatron's retardedness itself. But it sure was alot of fun though. :D

Oh, and "Revenge of the Fallen" is just my nickname for it. There was no need to comment my use of that.

No no, I didn't mean ANY disrespect Trails, I just hate the tag title. But Your 100% correct on it.

However, megs actually calls himself MEGATRONNNNN!!! WAY more then once, watch the flick with subs and see just how often it pops up. Like I said, I think it's cool when he first wakes up, but he indeed repeats it every other scene he is in!

Trailbreaker "far more advanced then us", the guy said that line meant technologically, not psychologically. We may be able to judge the physical advances of these guys, but their mental sentience is something beyond our understanding. We haven't fully found out what's the deal with our brains.
Well, you got me there indeed! Very nice point out! Makes me rethink and wonder...
....regardless, I still hold my ground, that without any explanation, it's stupid to have him say his name MANY times in his few scenes like a retarded dino bot!!! I just don't get it... And without explanation, it just seem's like bad story telling, but also, I think that TF is Bay's WORST told project! (continuity wise at least and logic wise) Christ, Armageddon had better explanations, character development, and timelines. And that WAS a peice of shit script!

I hope Bay doesnt get lost in the TF 2 world on "GIANT FUCKING ROBOTS", as he seemed to on TF-1, and can focus more on the actual storie telling this upcoming round!

TF had a good story with the animated movie. In a live-action movie I want to see robots kick the shit out of each other AND NOT DISAPPEAR AT THE END because of some mistake or budget limit and then latter on call it part of the story line because of some fucking book or comic. :lol

Well I never hear those parts in the movie and I never watch it with subtitles, so it doesn't matter to me.

It's hard to attach a good story to a bunch of toys. But "giant fuckin robots" make "big fuckin money" and that's all that really matters (sadly) in today's world of modern capitalism. Why I happen to be a victim of this, as I crave seeing "giant fuckin robots".

Maybe I should make a movie about "giant fuckin robots" with absolutely no plot at all. I won't care what people will think because this movie is gonna make me rich! :lol

Seriously man, if it bothers you so much than why don't you go do something about it? I would certainly like to see what you can do. ;)

Damn, your good...:D True, too true....

And as far as making a point, or doin somethin, this is the only real place to do it! So I do it. But It's Mikes movie, NOT mine. So I was just throwin it out there.

Overall, all in all, Revenge isn't that bad of a tittle, I just dont think the project needs it, and I am just really disappointing that Megs wasnt a brilliant insane genius, Like Napolian, or Hitler, instead, he ruled by power of scale and muscle, nothing to do with power of mind, and imho, someone like megs, he should have the power of mind, regardless upon twisted desires and actions.

I'm sorry you didn't get the Megs you were hoping for, but well man, sometimes there are cases where we simply have to accept it. Transformers was made to be just pure popcorn entertainment. If acceptance is not an option, it should apply to real world issues.

Actually, I was a trans fan at it's peak, when I was 4, other then that, I had no expectations for this TF film other then Bay=KICK ASS!!! That's what I got, but even for Bay, as far as character development it kinda sucked...

I didn't expect anything for Megs, at least nothing but at least some personality, not a psycho fuck tard... Hell Gen. Hummel had a good reason for what he did, Megs, I dunno...

And I hope to god Megs ain't around for the sequel until the end, to finish a, or what will be, a Kick ass saga! If he is central, then, well, fuckin A Mike Bay, that's tooooo much crap!

Benson Yee (a Beast Wars writer guy) considered the movie to be an "introduction" for the movieverse. A large swath of characters were introduced and there was not enough time to establish character developement. Think of it as the "More than Meets the Eye, Parts 1,2,3" of today. That was all just one big intro for a huge series. So we will definitely see more character development as more of these movies get made. Megs however, we will have to see...

TF2 or 3 might be a huge flop and they may decide to cut the series short. I hope not, I want to see more big transforming robots kick the shit out of each other. Oh what the future holds:D
