Weird question but are there any books that give some sort of insight into the director's method. I know very little about film making, I know what I like and would love to read a book that doesn't just gloss over it but gets into the method of stuff.

I guess you could say, books written with an aim to teach people the trade so it gets into detail. I've got many books on writing fiction by authors of fiction put out there to give new writers and fans insight. So wouldn't it be cool if Bay would do something of the sort or if someone did a critical analysis of his method for us who have not went to film school.

You could check out a book called "Shot by Shot: Visualizing from Concept to Screen" by Steven D. Katz

I'm reading it and it's awesome.

No probem. There's a series of them, like 4 parts I think. The one I mentioned above is part 1

I'm reading that too. It's such an awesome book for concepts! :D

But for the actual how-to-use-the-equipment book, I would suggest "The Filmmaker's Handbook" by Steven Ascher (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/results.asp?z=y&ATH=Steven+Ascher), Edward Pincus (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/results.asp?z=y&ATH=Edward+Pincus), Edward Pincus (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/results.asp?z=y&ATH=Edward+Pincus), Carol Keller (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/results.asp?z=y&ATH=Carol+Keller). But be careful because there's three editions. Get the third because it's a 2008 version and has the most recent form of making film: digital. I made the mistake of buying the 1998 version which was still on VHS and reels.

But I'm reading those on top of getting experience with my broadcasting and creative writing majors. Experience is a VERY NECESSARY thing.
