I have noticed lately that there has been a decline in the great p2p programs. Not for movies but for music. So I was wondering what , if any, that most of you guys use. Limewire and such. SO lets discuss this. JUST FOR SAKES, WE AREN'T talking about piracy agreed? But what do ya use?

P2P is something I have been in a moral debate for quite awhile about. when Lars sued Napster, I was totally on his side. But now I am in college and have no money other than for food and lodging and P2P services could be an alternative to dieing of boredom source of entertainment. It isn't even a question of the law to me, it is more about supporting what you loved. however, I have know of cases were material that was aquired through P2P download was shared with others, and those other followed that material and bought merchandise associated with said material. I know this one guy who even downloaded a movie and loved it so much, he bought the DVD.
But being an artist, I must ask myself, would I want someone to download my comics? of course the answer is no. I want there money to buy my food and keep me in a job. but every time I hear someone mention P2P, i think of the time I saw Mudvyne in concert. the lead singer said, " our new album is "The end of all Things to Come." buy it, borrow it, steal it. just get it."
anyways, I hear Piratebay.org is good.

Well I blame a lot of this on the fact that albums during the late 90's and early millenium had only 1 or 2 good songs on them. That led to downloading via napster. So if someone drops 15-18 bux on a cd that has maybe one good song on it it is obviously frustrating. But, I agree with you. If you like it enough. (like I did with Hinder's album) I bought it. And iTunes is such a pain in the ass i don't now what the hell to do. I have 2 accounts that it ays are active, but when logging in it says they dont exist... yeesh...
Keep the sites comming Bay is nice it actually has karaoke... very kewl for those of us who wanna excuse to drink hang out, and be the next A-Bar-ican Idol!

Soulseek is probably the best P2P program around right now....and fuck it, i download all the time, if record companies want people to buy their albums, they'll drop the prices, the biggest demographic (high school, college) dont have the kind of money to buy all these Cd's....money these days just doesnt spread very far.

Here in spain downloading things via P2P is fully legal. Make a private copy and share that copy is a customer's right. The SGAE (RIA equivalent) tried to stop p2p usage, but they don't have any legal background, so they blackmailed the goverments using the support of several "first line" artist (well, most of them long time finished as artist whos only incoming are the royalties) and since then we all pay and extra tax in CDs, DVDs, HDs, Computers, MP3s, etc... to "compensate" them (wich really is against our legal code).
I'm in total favour of using P2P, but fully against selling illegal copies or any business related of that.. Don't think home p2p usage makes a real damage on industry, most of people who download and then don't buy wouldn't buy it if they couldn't download. They would just wait until it's on tv or similar.
Also i'm against selling "virtual" music/movies/games, etc... when I pay for something I want to touch it, see it and i don't want to loose it every the computer OS "dies".

OUCH! *Zing Bang* Right too the kisser. But, Ury you have to admit though that music is getting shittier and shittier. There isn't much out there that is worth buying. But look at the albums that are actually good. They do MASSIVE numbers. 5-6 Million. Rap had it's time then companies found a look, a sound, and lather rinse repeat... So it all sounds alie. And if I had a dime for every chick that sounds like Ashley (I cant sing) Simpson or JoJo (who actually can sing they just make her talk on key). It's all about packaging a sound and people realize that. So like I said why buy an album for one song.
At the same time though Digital Single sales are rising MASSIVELY.

Soul Seek is AMAZING! It has everything you could normally get from limewire (in the old days) but it is all uncorrupted. No Adds, no bad users intent on virus hogging. You now you have a legit user because they have the entire album with tracks in the order. So once you find a legit user you simply download what you are lookinf for from them and wait the hour it taes to get an 18 song album (assuming you download an album).
I am trying to do an analysis of P2P services, and I will tell ya these tools are great. The thing I don't understand is why people who aren't known bands or artists don't use P2P to spread their influence and gain fans.
