Hey Michael,
I had to sign up for your site after I saw this video posted on youtube from Uwe Boll. If you don't know, he said that he will quit directing if 1,000,000 people petition him to do so. Well in one day, the petition already reached over 100,000, then he comes out with this video. It pretty much insults you and every other director in Hollywood
here's the link (click here) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWqCNmfJ1hY)

Cool.. thanks for the link. The video I have linked to youtube, has Uwe claiming that Bay and other directors are "f**king retards". Obviously, Uwe is upset that people think his movies are so bad, that he should stop directing. But to take his anger out on Bay is unprofessional, and I hope Michael responds..

i can proudly say i've never seen a Uwe Boll movie, i am very very anti-video game adaptations. Thou i have seen WAY to many Paul WS Anderson movies, Mortal Kombat, the Res-Evil trilogy, AvP pt1. Yes, i said i'm anti vg movies but i gave the ResEvil trilogy a chance bc a friend of mine showed em to me bc he's a total zombie movie freak. MK was good, i still own a VHS copy of it.

Interesting difference dude you dont know what the hell you are talking about. Every producer makes films for profit. This has nothing to do with a film being good or bad. If you as a producer didnt want to make money off of a film then why make it. Last i heard making money is what people strive to do in this field of work. Oh but you seem to forget that Bay cut his fees to make sure the film was within bugit. That dosent sound to much to me like he was only thinking of himself to make money or am I wrong?

I just looked up this Uwe Boll character because I'd never heard of him before. From all of his productions, I'd never heard of a single film besides Bloodrayne.. The only reason I'd heard of Bloodrayne was because I had seen it on the shelf at Wal-Mart, and my friend had told me he'd seen the movie and it was one of the dumbest movies he'd seen and that it wasnt' worth my time or money. Looking at all of Bay's films, their just... AWESOME!!! (and I didn't even know who Bay was until Transformers)

As a German, I may say that Mr. Boll is a shame for every German especially for good German filmmakers.
Please don't think that every German Director is as stupid as Boll.
What I want to know is who the fuck keeps green-lighting his movies, IMO they're the real retards, Blood Rayne is hands down the worst fucking movie I have ever seen, why did I see it? don't ask, friends will make you do stupid things -_-
I agree with Bay, this guy is just down right sad.

I thought Michael's response was rather classy.
I for one, don't hate Uwe Boll, but I have the upmost respect for the guy because he's doing what he loves, even if he is making horrible abomnations and audience anal-rape sessions of unspeakable fucking bullfuck rape shit. However, I hate to say it, Postal does look kinda funny, and I heard he plays himself as a pedophile in that, not to mention the clips I saw, I kinda cracked up at.
I think Uwe's threatened he's no-longer the world's worst filmmaker, those two morons behind DATE MOVIE, EPIC MOVIE, and MEET THE SPARTANS are. And their movies, for some odd fucking reason, make decent money, whereas all of Boll's theatrical releases have made probably 14, maybe 15 million total.
With all that useless shit said, I condemn the statement about calling Bay, Eli Roth, and George Clooney retards when they've practically braught some originality to Hollywood. Lemme be specific.
Michael Bay has his own haters, specifically that hero dude or whatever the hell his name is on here, but shit, Bay has come up with some of the best theatrical experinces I ever had, especially with Transformers. Not to mention he's very good with his DP's, not to mention a good cameraman himself.
Eli Roth. As a horror fan from the age of 5, when I saw Stephen King's The Stand premiere on ABC back in 1994, I've been waiting for someone to kinda bring some originality to the genre. Cabin Fever was great, as it mixed some rather cringe inducing scenes with some really good satire. Hostel was pretty fucking brilliant, I don't care what anyone says, because you really have to dig into the whole American international relations of it, and because the concept was just horrifying enough. Horror may almost be lost to these goofy ass PG-13 kid-friendly, pussy-ass, bitch movies like The Ring, or The Grudge, or Prom Night (WHY THE FUCK IS IT #1!?), but Eli Roth still cranks em out for the old school horror fans.
George Clooney. The guy practically does it all. Acting, Writing, Directing. What the hell, he's actually not a complete scumbag either, maybe a little smug, but if I were him, I would be too.
With all said, Uwe Boll really shot his mouth off, and I think hes trying to just to build up any sort of press for Postal, which comes out oppisite Indy 4. An obvious DOA. I think he is getting way too much attention for this shit, and what he said was just out of line. Especially when talking about some folks who have rather contributed to movies. Ok, I'll shut the fuck up now. :)

I would be more annoyed if he said "Michael Bay is the best and most important filmmaker in movie history. He's my idol and someday I wish to work with him" because THAT would give all those "Michael Bay are just Uwe Boll with million dollar budgets"-idiots something to laugh about.

Speaking of your name, halo...
If Peter Jackson ever gets that damn Halo adaptation off the ground, which I doubt, wouldn't it be so much better if Bay directed it!? He's PRACTICALLY BORN TO MAKE A MOVIE BASED ON HALO, and IT WOULD BE BIGGER AND BETTER THAN TRANSFORMERS.

I don't think anyone working on Halo has considered Bay. There's already lots of discussions when fans talk about what the movie would be like if Bay directed it on imdb. Like 1% or less of them say it would be awesome but then there is 99% hardcore Halo fans that are scared Bay would rape their movie and not care about the source material. While it would be interesting if Bay directed its just not going to happen.

Personally... I don't see Bay doing any type of movie based off a video game. So far I've only seen a few good movies based off of them, such as Resident Evil. Some have come close such as Mortal Kombat (which seemed a bit too theatrical or kid based). Street Fighter isn't worth mentioning. Final Fantasy was just... well.. how could that be a good movie anyways.. besides it being a drawn out cartoon. Tomb Raider... only good thing about that was watching Angelina Jolie shake her ass.. Doom wasn't too bad.. I guess.. I dunno.. Super Mario Brothers makes me laugh... Double Dragon was the equivalent to Street Fighter.. Never seen Silent Hill nor played it, nor cared to. The Wizard in the 80's was a kid fun like movie about Nintendo.. Wargame will always be a classic. The Last Starfighter wasn't too bad. Tron... I'm not sure I think I've seen it but.. ehh.. Wing Commander was .. well.... the acting was terrible.. graphics were too computer based and not put together too well... and then theres Bloodrayne.. just pathetic.. I'm sure Bay doesn't want to be grouped into any of these categories.. unless he was wanting to make something that was actually GOOD and would be a classic like Wargame or Resident Evil. But yeah.. I wouldn't want to see Bay trying to mess with Halo, because it just doesn't seem there would be much of anything to work with.

I am against a Halo flick because the games are already pretty cinematic in nature. I liked the RE trilogy, Mortal Kombat, Hitman, and Silent Hill, but just about anything else based on a game was pretty shitty.

Wow i forgot about Final Fantasy Ghosts Within or whatever the hell. That was a joke of a movie. No, see Bay SHOULD of done Die Hard 4 <i refuse to use the real title, Die Hard 4.0 is what it was supposed to be called> or mayyyyyyyybe Superman Returns, i'm sure Bay would NOT of forgotten to put action in a Superman movie, like Singer did. I'm not some Bay-fan-boy that thinks he should direct everything, but Die Hard 4 and Supes, YES, defintiely better in his hands, as i believe he was the first one offered DH4, and he's been offered a slew of comic movies from what he said on the TF comm. Anyways......

My thoughts:
Superman is in better hands with Singer. Granted, just like X-Men his first movie is rather slow, because he spends a lot of time building a character base and then expanding on that base in a sequel (rather than repeating a story and making it "Lucas" by doing everything bigger and better). I think he handled it very well. I am pretty sure the sequel will have more action.
Halo on the other hand is rather difficult. Personally, I would prefer Bay doing it mainly due to the potential for action. If they do a retelling of the first game (which I hope then leads to a trilogy of films actually based on the game) I am all for it, unfortunately, with Halo there is a major problem: the lack of a face for the main character.
A lot of viewers will not be able to associate themselves with the hero. Its the make or break of a movie. Us gamers have it different, the faceless hero is faceless because he gets interaction from the gamer, the person sitting in front of the screen essentially becomes the hero. Attachement is there automatically.
In a movie, there is no interactivity, so the character needs face. Since Bungee does not want that, the only way to effectivly tell the story is through secondary characters, possibly through the view of Cortana and that pretty much kills Halo 3 since for more than half of it she is not around.
Thats the conclusion they have reached so far anyway I think. I am a huge Halo fan, I love the story and would love to see the Master Chief on the screen. Bay is made for this kind of movie, a mix of Transformer effects and Bad Boys attitude, with the way Bay works on lighting (which I love btw) a really nice opportunity.
Unfortunately, to make Halo work, the story would have to be told from a comepletely different angle to appeal to the general audience and personally I do not like that, because the chemistry of the MC and Cortana as well as the atmosphere they bring, worked so well.
Without a face, the MC would just look like a cold character, an empty shell and thats how most of the viewers would see it. Having Cortana there all the time would make it very talk intensive, and frankly, she would get annoying just to to get the emotional train going required for a character attachment.
I am no expert but making a Halo movie decent is more than a challenge, and i do not envy the writers there. So, no matter how good the base story line is, or how well the universe has been written out, basing the film directly on the formular that made the games popular (not to mention the inovative ego-shooter controls on a console) is a risk at best and could only be done outside the official univers and lets face it, without the MC, it aint Halo, not in my eyes anyway.

i never heard of this Uwe personHalo won't be made, It's a dead project. Peter Jackson and Niell Blomkamp (the director attached) said so themselves. So you got nothing to worry about...tron.
And yeah. It could very well be bigger and a little better than Transformers. If people went ga-ga over Transformers, which was mega badass, I assure you the same audience will go BATSHIT CRAZY over a Halo flick, which I hope doesn't get made because the games are already too damn cinematic, that there isn't really another dimension to break into with a movie.
Uwe Boll is a German director/writer/producer who came here in 2003 with an adaptation of House of the Dead. While the movie wasn't expected to do anything, it ended up being almost inept on every level. Even for a B-movie. He then went on to do Alone in the Dark, which ruined Christian Slater's career. BloodRayne, destroying Ben Kingsley's and Micheal Madsens, and the recent In the Name of the King, with a whole buncha people, most notably Jason Statham. He somehow keeps getting his movies funded outside of Hollywood, and gets big stars to do them, and he does all his flicks based on video games. He also is notable for being a total nutjob and very unprofessional, even for a loud German. He curses like crazy in his interviews, lambasts just about anything that has come out of Hollywood, and recently he attacked Michael Bay, Eli Roth, and George Clooney. All rather talented people. Yes, Eli Roth has talent, even though Hostel 2 was kinda lame.
Does that all answer your question, or did your short 13 year old attention span tune out? :p

Possible New Halo Script
Apr 2, 2008Screenwriter Stuart Beattie, who most recently wrote the script for the G.I. Joe movie is also is a huge Halo fan. Frustruated with the lack of progress with the movie, he has taken it upon himself to re-write the script, for free, based on the novel HALO: FALL OF REACH, by Eric Nylund.
It's good to see someone doing something to get this movie going.

We were talkin about movies that were made based off of video games. Die Hard and its trilogy were made first, and the video game came afterwards just as the Transformers game came after the movie.. well.. I should say it came out a month before the movie... but we all knew the movie was going to come out long before the video game.. The thing with Halo is that its a video game.. and if someone makes a movie, then it will be based off of the video game. Die Hard's video game was based off the movie.. Did I confuse you there? Movies based off of video games usually don't do as well as video games based off of movies.

However Microsoft has stated time and again that they want to make a Halo movie.Well, you certainly act like a 12 year old. This movie is going through development HELL. They've braught on a ton of notable screenwriters like Alex Garland, but Fox and Uni badked out after Hitman and Doom failed for them both, respectively. Just about all the other studios are probably to backed up to take it, so I don't think it will be released for a VERY LONG time. It took 12 years for Doom to get to the theater. It's taken 13 for Tekken, and they only just got around to making it.
A Halo flick just doesn't seem right, it would be freakin sweet, but it just doesn't seem like it's gonna happen for a LONG time. I guess I rephrase what I said about never, but shit, I'm guessing a decade until Halo hits.

Tekken??? as in ... Nina.. Paul, Heihachi, Jin, Yoshimitsu, and my favorite.. King? umm. nope.. never heard anything about it.. I was gonna get Tekken 5 for PS3, but I think its only available as a download which kind of sucks. ehh.. oh well.. I'm guessing it'd be just another Street Fighter or Double Dragon type movie. So I'm not too excited about a movie coming out.
I never played any of the Hitman video games, but the movie was more of a success than you might think. I thought it was a pretty good movie. Doom on the other hand.. uh.. not so much. I never cared for Doom though. First Doom on PS1 freaked me out with all the satanic symbols.. dead people on poles.. and the sound of either a dying cow.. or a baby crying was just freaky.

WOW, you guys have NO idea of the Hollywood system at ALL. Halo will not be made for a very long while. Lemme put it this way, you guys will probably be LAID before they get a studio to back it up.
Going back to that Tekken movie, I am very iffy. I don't know whether or not Hitman was a success story, but it was a cool flick. I loved the Doom games, but the movie just SUCKED.

What do you mean probably be laid? You make it sound like we are all geeks or something and dont get booty, and we would have a better chance of getting some before Halo is ever made? If that is what you are emplying you make me laugh:D As for your back and forth ranting with Megatron42, he really is a good guy and you should be a little more respectfull to your elders!!

I've never played any of the "Hitman" games so I don't have much to compare it to, except for other movies. I bought the "Hitman" movie and thought it wasn't that bad at all! It almost seemed like a medium between something like "Crank" or "Transporter" and "Ultraviolet". I thought "Ultraviolet" was terrible.. terrible acting, terrible graphics. I actually rate "Hitman" with something like "V for Vendetta" or "Johnny Mnemonic" or "Aeon Flux".

Well, I refuse any 40something that is gonna come into some movie geek board and tell me that I am stupid over an opinion. Mega, Tekken is being shot as we speak in Shreveport, Louisiana. I don't know why Louisiana, probably because of the financial support of the local gov.
Any real momentum on Halo was lost when Uni backed out, then Fox. It's a given that Sony won't do it. I can only see Paramount and WB doing it, but no news, other than a 25025th rewrite, which is retarded, because Alex Garland is already a perfect screenwriter. He wrote a horror masterpiece, 28 Days Later, and a sci-fi masterpiece, Sunshine. As soon as I heard that they were changing his script, I was OUT.

In my opinion Hitman, really sucked, everything was different. Hitman doesnt act like that, in complicated situations... Well, about Uwe Boll, screw him, of course Bay is a better director than him, don't try to compare.

Gee.. don't get your panties all in a bunch there.. who are you referring to as a 40 something geek? I know you're not talking to me cuz I'm not even close to being 40, and in fact theres only one person I can think of on this board around that age, besides MB, and he's only.. what.. 37?
What are these masterpieces you speak of? Personally.. I thought Sunshine sucked.. and 28 Days Later was ok.. but it had a European feel to it that put me in a stage of boredom most of the time. I found it to be lacking energy.. something which I look for in movies.. if theres no energy to it, then why watch it except to be put to sleep. 28 Days later was okay, but I wouldn't call it a masterpiece.

I really wanted to see Sunshine, and i did LOVE 28 Days Later. I was very surprised to of liked it, i HATE horror films and zombie films? Uh....yea.....skip 'em. But now i'm not so anti zombie movies, after that, the new Dawn of the Dead, and Shaun of the Dead. I even saw the Res-Evil trilogy, in theaters no less. Danny Boyle isn't half bad, he's got a broad range

When Uwe Boll makes a movie even half as kick-ass as The Rock, then he can think about being worthy of referencing Michael Bay.

Uwe Boll asks Blizzard for WoW movie rights, Azeroth way off limits (http://www.strategyinformer.com/news/865/uwe-boll-asks-blizzard-for-wow-movie-rights-azeroth-way-off-limits)Posted: 21.04.2008 07:20 by Simon (http://www.strategyinformer.com/member/73)http://images.strategyinformer.com/pictures/news_icon.png Comments: 2Blizzard has essentially laughed the German director out of their offices, and certainly right out of Azeroth.
"We will not sell the movie rights, not to you... especially not to you," was apparently Paul Sams reply, to which Azeroth was pronounced saved!
"I got in contact with Paul Sams of Blizzard, and he said, 'We will not sell the movie rights..." Boll told MTV News.
To his own admission he goes on to to say "Because it's such a big online game success, maybe a bad movie would destroy that ongoing income, what the company has with it."
There you have it, not only juicy news of rejection from Blizzard to Uwe Boll but his own acceptance he would make a "bad movie". Just the one Uwe?
So far an online petition is still ongoing that calls for the director to please stop making films, it originally had only 30,000 signatures but has since exploded to over 200,000. Uwe Boll himself has said that if it reached one million names then he would seriously consider stopping.
