Is it hard to make it as an actor in America? Im from Ireland and would love to give it a shot.

Depends on who you know and how good your savoir-faire is.

"Making It" is a term that is used too much. If you mean make a good living and advancing your craft then no it's not. If you mean becoming 20Mil a pic Jim Carrey it's just as hard to get there as to stay there.

But, in the end it's like anything else. If you like what you do then do it. You have to chase after the jobs, they will not come after you. Shreveport, L.A., N.Y.C., Toronto, New Orleans, and other places. Look at the Dallas and Shreveport areas. I was in L.A. for a few years, and came back home to less competition and got way more jobs. Not to mention that rent was not as high... Hard work, Hard work will pay off.

Talent doesn't hurt either. So no matter what anyone tells you be honest with yourself. Also play expanded roles on stage (tennesse Williams is a great guy to read/practice his stuff). On Screen though probably 50% of the films made are never seen. So work is easy to get just be prepared for the month or two in between that you may not have work.
