i still can't figure out what happened to barricade, what happened to him in the movie?

There's another thread that explains this, but I'll just make it short and sweet for ya.
In the movie novel, he joined in the fight with Bonecrusher and Optimus. Optimus took him out pretty good, but he'll be back in the sequel granted we didn't see that in the movie.
